The good news is it's more DBZ than it is DBGT, so if you love DBZ and want more stop reading this review and just watch it already. There's no need to sing it praises so let's get into why I couldn't give it a five. Remember kids, before you hate on this review I love this series for the most part; but I gotta be fair and objective.
Starting with if you saw the last two DBZ movies (Battle of Gods & Resurrection F) then you've seen the first two arcs of DBS. Yes there are subtle differences between the two versions but not enough. Also
The future Trunks arc goes nowhere and only serves to explain why there are two Zeno's later
.
This show also has no mercy for newbies (let's be honest here, how can you call yourself otaku if you haven't seen DBZ?). Nothing is explained except for new characters powers and motivations. I understand that this is the fourth series in the franchise but a 12 year old who got a CR membership for Xmas may not have seen DBZ and might find this series unapproachable. It's a good action show with no depth, no character development and no metaphorical symbolism. For some that's good, for others that's bad. It's about guys (and gals now) punching each other, powering up, and hurling energy blasts at each other. For some that's good, others that's bad. Hence the lack of a middle ground.
NOTE: Originally I was gonna give this a three but the addition of female characters who fight is innovative (For a Dragon Ball series) to elevate it to a four from me.
