With characterization at its finest, a story dedicated to the characters and the challenges Kyon (the protagonist) has to face will bring you all kinds of emotions and even dig out emotions that you never thought you had.

By far the best anime adapted movie, The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya accomplishes in what MOST adapted movies fails to do. While most of these type of films fails to bring back the excitement, or the qualities that made the anime great, THIS movie not only succeeds on bringing back all that is good from the anime but also manages to refine those qualities into a masterpiece.

If you're trying to decide if you should indeed invest the time to watch it, you should and you'll find yourself well rewarded. While the length of the movie being close to 3 hours (specifically 2h44m) may scare most people, every minute is properly utilized where no scenes can be deemed unnecessary.

Everything that has been hinted in the anime series WILL be concluded here, and when that happens, it is a fine joy of finding closure with the series.
With an end that'll bring warmth to your heart from the long journey that you and the characters adventured through, this is THE way to end a well done series.
