The Bad:
Rin isn't the best main character I've ever seen. He's basically Jesus and acts as a panacea for every situation, this is probably the biggest criticism I have for the writing in this series. There are various scenes where the characters are having a conversation, yet they'll focus on one character who isn't speaking for a majority of the scene. This one small aspect could have been fixed by looping two or three frames so that they're not putting pressure on the animation studio. There are a few exceptions to this rule, but I when you're covering the speaker, it ends up looking lazy. The pacing was also everywhere. I also really didn't think his friend was necessary, you know who I mean, right? The perverted supporting character? I can't remember his name.
The Good:
This series is really well written for a harem series. It has a varied cast of female characters that more than make up for Rin's bland character. Each of the characters ends up getting a good amount of character development over the short 24 episode run time. When the series needs to have good animation it does, and the animation adds to the scenes (which is why I would suggest watching it dubbed over subbed). If you watched this subbed think back, which scene was the most emotional for you, was it the scene where Remu just kind of walked around the house in a depressive state? Well, that's more so what it's like with the dub. The great vocal performances from the entire voice cast also added a lot to the feel of the series. this series has a lot of now-famous voice talent in it voicing main characters, so it was honestly really nice hearing what was the beginning of the Funimation voice cast. Overall this series was very good and I would suggest checking it out if you have the time.
