You Know it took me a little while to figure out just how i was going to talk about this series. Because unlike any other series I've reviewed so far. "Girls' Last Tour" doesn't have a designated story plot, that I can explain at length or go into heavy detail on. Instead what we have is the story of two young girls and their day to day lives and discoveries as they travel through a post apocalyptic world.

Now that being said, the scripting and writing does a good job, when it comes to relaying the realism and relevancy of the story. As a lot of the the conversations our two little rays of sunshine Chi and Yui have together, are what would be considered really appropriate for the theme and setting the series provides us with. Such as, survival, hopelessness, wondering if there's even a meaning to their journey, and even questioning the meaning of life.

"Girls' Last Tour" normally has a lighthearted feel to it most of the time. But there are some parts of the series, that offer a since of mystery and others that can be found to be truly moving.

Now on the subject of characters, other than our two little rays of sunshine Chi and Yui there are some minor supporting characters that get introduced. However they don't tend to stick around for more then one episode each so I can't really go into any detail on them. There's also talk of the girls' grandfather through out the series, who remains introduced. And I guess you could say that Girls' Last Tour is a lot like Kino's Journey in how it deals with travel and exploration just with out the drama.

The character designs which were done by Toda Mai really let you fall in love
with the characters allowing you to empathize and feel for our girls as they continue on their journey. Which suited the series perfectly for the setting and theme that it has. I honestly believe that if any other character design had been used, that the series wouldn't of been able to capture those desired feelings to well.

Now the animation on the other hand was handled by studio White Fox, who has an amazing track record for many works including, Steins Gate and Re:Zero. And speaking of amazing the end theme is absolutely incredible.

First off it's a beautiful sketched animation done by the original creator of the manga source Tsukumizu. And the theme song "More one night" fits the series perfectly as the lyrics sung by our girls express how even though their situation may look hopeless they still have each other. I know this because I created a video review on my channel about the series where I translated the ED. You can check the video out below.

"Girls' Last Tour" has one the most delightful soundtracks that I have had the pleasure of listening to. There are a lot of very calming and beautiful musical scores used through out the series which enhances the all around experience and investment that the viewer has in each scene. And as we all know music plays an extremely important part when it comes to creating a scene. It's that pull that makes us not want to look away when the protagonist is about to kiss the best girl. It's the dramatic sound score that we hear mixed with a very intense battle action scene.

But my personal favorite track from the series is the song of rain.

All around "Girls' Last Tour" is a great watch for anyone who is looking for a lighthearted adventure, with some very adorable and lovable characters.
Now the only critique I have for the series, is the story could of used a little drama to further enhance the emotional investment we have in Chi and Yui as our main characters.

Now if you have already watched the series, and are looking for something a long the lines of "Girls' Last Tour" but with a little more action. You can check out "Kino's Journey" or you can check out "Made In Abyss" from this past 2017 season. Both of these series deal with exploration, but they also have a good bit of decent drama in them as well.
