(I'm not really good in reviews but I'll try also there will be some spoilers)
story
the story is basically divided into 2 parts, the first is the characters struggle in jail and the second is their struggle in the outside world.
I think the story was well executed but I think they should have done more of the first part than the second part, as for me.
during the second half, I don't feel any pity from the characters anymore, not like in the first part where I scream once they fight or I cringe wheenever Ishihara did something stupid again.
another thing that is it has some plot holes like how did Rokurouta end up in jail, I still dont understand it, also we have no soldier arc, I also think Cabbage, Uncovered and Turtle's arc we're weak as there are no real struggle for them.
Mario also got two arcs and I think his arm should have been healed a while ago.
Characters
while they are all likable (expect for the villains), I find them all forgettable, maybe because Sakuragi really shines in the entire series, in which I think is also their downfall because the series has become Sakuragi-centric. to the point where they treat him like a God or so and heck even Mario ends up looking like sakuragi.
Setsuko is an okay character at least once her purpose is done she's done, she's kinda weak though, the villains in this episodes are kinda okay, they are cringy enough for you to hate them.
they are sadistic in their own way and I couldnt be happier on how did they got Punked.
back with the main characters, yeah I like their determination and at the same time you really will feel bad for them, It's true that you won't pity them on the second half but still i think you will be satisfied on how did they achieved their goals.
Sound and Animation
The sound is pretty nice, the opening was pretty BADASS.. and I like Joe's cover of Jailhouse Rock, you can definetely feel the atmosphere in jail once you heard the OST's and it will take you back to the 50s.
The animation was okay, another flaw i think is again Mario and Sakuragi's design outshined all of them, not even Joe's blond hair could stop them, still I think it was good, I like the colors appearing while the narration happens and I like Dear night, It could have been perfect while in a certain sad scene.
