Mixed Feelings
How do I put this. The story was interesting to begin with, but it got very predictable and boring fast. What annoyed me most about the story was how easily I knew what was going to happen. I could say "He's going to become a doctor now," and then he did. Not once was I surprised by what happened. The art was okay. It definitely wasn't the best, but nor was it the worst.

Now the sound. The sound was alright, except for Jinko, and some of the sound effects. I don't mean to offend the voice actor, but Jinko's voice was very annoying and I think the voice actor went overboard with it.

Now it's time for my biggest problem with this anime. The characters. Kotoko is completely and utterly useless and helpless, not to mention she has no self respect. I get that some things are hard to do, but nobody is bad at everything. She can't even walk 2 steps without messing up. Not to mention she let herself be bullied and treated like crap just because she had a crush on some guy. Now on to Irie. I get the whole "Cold- hearted misunderstood know-it all" thing they're trying to do. But he honestly was a huge jerk to her. But then out of the blue he kisses her and she falls for him again. He repeatedly ignores her and then goes out with another girl, treats her like crap, and then asks her to marry him. What kind of relationship is like that? (if you're in a relationship like that, I suggest to get out of it as fast as possible, or find a way to communicate) Irie is actually quiet mean. The supporting characters were more interesting, and seemed to have more depth then Irie. Not to mention that the characters don't change. It goes from their senior year of high school, to when they have their own daughter, and Kotoko is still a mess and completely usless, and Irie is still mean and doesn't show her an affection. Even her daughter makes fun of Kotoko.

That being said, I'm not going to totally trash on it. If you're looking for a light-hearted anime and don't really mind if it's perdictable, then I would recommend it. It was a little heart warming seeing them grow-up and I did feel a bit happy for them (I'm not completely heartless), but it wasn't a very good story and plot. Overall it was mediocre, wouldn't mind watching it again if I really had too, but it's the characters personalities, especially Irie's that make it a 4.
