Mixed Feelings
The concept of the Seven Deadly Sins in anime is nothing new, however Nanatsu No Taizai adds an interesting twist to it. It completely reverses the idea of the Seven Deadly Sins and uses it in interesting ways. The character's personalities do not reflect the sins they each represent, but their past does. However, most characters are forgettable and one-dimensional. None of these characters feel like they could be actual people personality wise, they're all walking talking fucking archetypes that don't develop in any way. The only decent character is Ban, who actually has different layers of his personality, an interesting background, and other goals than just reclaiming the kingdom. The music is fantastic and the action scenes, while not anything special, are pretty entertaining. However, without good characters to carry the series forward, it shows you all the worst of the shonen genre with not enough positives to make up for it.
