Synopsis:

Ippo Makunouchi is nice gentle kid who always get bullied because he smells like fish from working at his family’s fishing boat rental business, with no father at home Ippo tries his to help his mom. One day a middleweight boxer saves Ippo from the bullies and takes him to Kamogawa boxing gym where he realizes that all the manual labor he did made him stronger than he thought. With this Ippo sets his goal on becoming a professional boxer.

Pros:

The fight scenes are amazing, they are filled with good strategy and have intense drama that keep you at the edge of your seat.

The show is very funny with lighthearted gags that repeat throughout the show.

The show doesn't just focus on Ippo which great because it gives you a chance view the life of the fighters in the gym and gives them all a chance to shine.

The animation and art style work perfectly for this show.

125 episodes of pure amazement.

Cons:

Sadly they only ever adapted 1/2 of the manga if you want check out the manga after all 3 seasons start at chapter 557.

Final Recommendation:

With the rise of all the hype of sports anime in the recent years (Kuroko no Basket, Haikyuu, and Diamond no Ace) many people look pass Hajime no Ippo. So any sports anime fan I'd highly recommend you watch Hajime no Ippo and check out the manga after.  It's roughly about 125 episodes( +/- a few episodes) with amazing action, quality drama, giggly comedy, and even a little bit of romance. Even if you aren't a sport anime fan I'd still recommend this. It always great to see how hard work and dedication will take you places. Hajime no Ippo is the definition of a underdog story and it just an amazing ride to see.
