RiN (Manga) add (All reviews)
Jun 9, 2015
Preliminary (30/43 chp)
I never wrote a review here before, but Rin seems to be pretty unknown, and I'd like to change that a bit!
This Manga caught my eye when I was on a trip in Tokyo, because I instantly recognized Harold Sakuichis unusual artstyle, and I loved Beck!
When I was back home I instantly tried to find anything about it, but it was quite difficult sinde it's not very well known yet. Even now, more than a year later and 30 65-page chapters in, there doesn't even exist a wikipedia page on it.
But I am simply blown away by this. At first glance it seems like another manga about manga, like Bakuman, but it's so much more than that. I won't get to much into the story though, because I think there are a lot of surprises to be had.
While the process of creating a manga gets highlighted quite often, the main focus drifts mostly into more slice-of-life territory and, at some points even into the supernatural realm.
The story feels vast, and so much bigger than the main character fushimi's struggle to get a foothold in a professional manga magazine, but we mostly see the world from his point of view, which makes everything so relateable. While there is a lot of fun and love, there also is some drama to be had.
I recommend this to everyone who loves fascinating slice of life stories and welcomes, or at least doesn't mind some occasional drops of the supernatural slipped in.
No, let me rephrase that, I recommend this to everyone, who loves good stories.
