It wasn't, what I was waiting for seeing the cover of the series, but it didn't disappoint me (((too much))) either.

After seeing the cover of the anime, I was hoping for some chaotic atmosphere and a postapocaliptic Tokyo scene, but it seems for that wish of mine the title would had been Tokyo Magnitude 10 instead of "just" 8.0.
Aside from the setting, nothing is really special. If you want to think about it as a documentary film, it doesn't have much aspect of it, and neither can I say it's a slice of life, 'cause it's not a common thing going home after a huge tremor.
It's unique, but has really nothing special.
It's similar to most of the anime which have journey as the backbone of the plot. This is where the documentary appeal comes in. It's real! No super robots, no magic etc. It's a pure 'what would happen if' anime
And throwing in this "little" twist at the 10th episode... It was really unexpected, but the creators might have thought, this will spin up the story a bit. Well it did leave a bitter taste in my mouth though. However it wasn't such a strong shock, that I had to cry my teacup full of tears.

Sum-up:
+ Presenting Tokyo after an 8.0 magnitude earthqueke was a good idea
- Cheap explanation for the tragedy
