You should still watch it if you want a decent historical Anime that brings fantasy (ie. DRAGONS) into the world.
STORY:
The story is pretty good. The ep's are pretty linear and the plot is very interesting.
There are multiple times where the lines in this anime are so stupid and ridiculous because they're trying to hard to be metaphorical or deep...that it's funny BUT that's not to say ALL of the lines are stupid!
The way they set up the story sucks by the way.
They show you VERY early on a spoiler from many episodes into the future.
Many movies and shows do this to show you how it all comes back around but the way this show did it was random. Very...random.
Sometimes it'll cut from this scenario to the next in the blink of an eye but other times it'll be very linear.
ART:
The art is not the best in my opinion.
It's not bad but it's not good for an Anime in this day & age.
The style can be compared to a 2005-2007 Anime.
Weird edits such as LITERAL fire flames showing in (NON-FANTASY) character eyes. I'm talking about it looking like a fire gif was overlapped on a characters eyes.
Dramatic slo-mo's & a still image of a character with a galaxy or sky backdrop....
Things like that.
Basically, the animation of the art is not really cared for & just looks like they hired someone who was a new animator. (Like they know how to animate but they're still learning...)
Also most of the eyes are basic shoujo eyes. For the most part, the eyes are all the same.
SOUND:
The OST is very fitting. It's catchy.
I don't LOVE it but it's good for the Anime.
CHARACTER:
All of the characters are pretty basic personalities but they're not dislikable so I think you'd like/be okay with them.
The willpower in all of the characters is something I really like in any character though.
ENJOYMENT:
This Anime is an Anime I would watch & finish but it's not an Anime I would keep up with weekly (as in be avidly awaiting for the next ep).
I don't love it but I don't hate it because the plot is interesting.
That's my best explanation for my enjoyment.
OVERALL:
Akatsuki no Yona is very on & off (GOOD AT SOME PARTS, VERY BAD ON OTHER PARTS) with A LOT of things but if you piece it in your mind then you'll be fine.
It has a plot that'll keep you watching but I personally don't think it would be in your Top 30 if you had to make a "Best Anime" list for every Anime you'd ever watched.
