Although the settings can't be farther apart, the relationship between the two main protagonists mirror each other fairly well. The buildup was taken care of early on in the series and we get to see the intimacy without too much drama. Both series focus on how the couples grow together, instead of relying on a climactic final arc for one side to finally realize their feelings.
