both are abute card games and have a similar plot and the cardfight characters make a cameo
The card game both animes revolve around are by the same company Bushiroad, so as you can imagine they're akin in style and rules. But that's just in hindsight. The writing is similar in that Vanguard and Buddyfight enjoy breaking cliché tropes in the best possible way. Though while Vanguard does this using its story/plot, Buddyfight does this using its characters/their relations which results in you being a lot more invested in these characters than you thought you could be for a show called 'Buddyfight.'
