Both are music comedies about school girls. Whole K-On is about a band, Futsuu no Joshikousei ga [Locodol] Yatte Mita is about idols. Both have animation done in cute way.
Both shows are about a group of girls who all go to the same high school and perform music together. In K-On! they are part of a band and school club, while in Locodol, they are local idols who promote their community. Both shows are laid back and have little if any drama. They both have some comedy, but the main focus is on the character interactions and warm atmosphere. If you enjoyed one, then you'll probably enjoy the other.
