Shokugeki no Souma, Amaama to Inazuma Recommendations
Both anime features food in a deliciously realistic way, though at different angles.
Amaama to Inazuma shows step-to-step cooking tutorials for common homely Japanese food while Shokugeki no Souma combines both science and art to present creative fusion dishes according to various themes.
Both animes use food as a bonding factor, where the characters bond over food and develop better relationships from it.
Despite different settings and character types (e.g. genius youths vs single father and average students), both animes have feel good themes.
Both anime feature cooking as the main plot.
The difference is that Amaama is more of a lighthearted slice of life while Shokugeki does cooking with some amounts of fanservice.
Lots and lots of delicious looking food. Also, Kotori Iida is basically Megumi Tadokoro with her head on straight.
Amaama to Inazuma, it begins as a father and his child they're not the same at the beginning but in episode 2-3 it starts to focus on food/making food.
Both anime are about cooking, but they deal with it in different ways. While Shokugeki no Souma views cooking more as a competition, Amaama to Inazuma makes a more realistic and practical use of it. Also the main character of Shokugeki knows much about cooking whereas the main in Amaama is a total beginner so the cooked meals of the latter one are simple but at the same time easier to understand. In contrast the meals in Shokugeki seem to be more creative and exceptional.
In some ways they are very different. AtI is quiet, with a very appealing innocence to it, while SnS is flamboyant, with a constant sexual undertone.
However, underneath the surface they share a profound appreciation for food and the process of creating it. Both of them will leave you wishing to adjourn to the kitchen to start appreciating the joy of cooking, and both will give you ideas for new variations on your favorite dishes.
