This anime is more similar to Attack on Titan, with humanity being scared and hiding behind walls to survive against swarms of shit that wants to kill them. But, its similar in a sense to Tokyo Ghoul as well. The element of how people who get infected are treated, as soon as they are infected they are to be killed on the spot. The authorities here also do inspections and stuff too to see if you were infected. While in Tokyo Ghoul, Ghouls try to blend into society but as soon as they are found out they are to be killed on the spot.
In both series the main male protagonist are near the same age and make up in intelligence and personal skills rather than strength and power. Both protagonist have slightly white hair at some point. Both characters become half human half the supernatural being in their universes and Both trained in fighting by a female character that beats them into submission as part of training.

A more recent anime to our list,Koutetsujou no Kabaneri or Kabaneri of the iorn fortress.As the name impies,the protagonist has to live his life as half-human,half-kabaneri,enduring the pain and intolerance of other people,who believe that he just wants to kill them and create an uproar inside the fortress.However,he is not alone,since there is alos another girl like him,Mumei.I believe that the animators could have done a better job,but still this anime is good for spending your time,especially if you want to see something like Tokyo Ghoul.
