Both have a guy and girl starting a club together that starts to grow, both clubs have more girls than guys, and they are both romantic anime
Although it's much heavier in terms of emotions, both have a fun sense of humor and lovable cast of characters you'd have to be heartless not to like.

A club recruits members and friendships form.
They have differing morals though: Friendship in HaGaNaI, and life in Clannad.

The main protagonists on each anime have the same situation, they are considered like a delinquent and have no friends because of that. He will create a club with an another girl and some girl people will join the club during the history.
The past and the present history are connected on both anime.
