Gushing Over Magical Girls is to Madoka Magica what Madoka is to classic magical girl shows — it's a subversion of a subversion. Though Gushing Over Magical Girls is ecchi (bordering on hentai at points), that doesn't strip of it what it actually is — a dark magical girl show. It has its darker moments and themes and twists, similar to Madoka. There are points in the show where it takes itself and its themes seriously. The mascot characters especially share a lot of personality traits and themes. Additionally, both shows have yuri themes (Gushing Over Magical Girls is more explicit about them than Madoka, but they are both there). Gushing Over Magical Girls is like if Madoka was a way more comedic and perverted ecchi anime. They both have similar themes of downfalls and falls from grace, though Madoka is more of a drama while Gushing Over Magical Girls is typically more comedic about it. Both protagonists are around the same age and start as kind of shy girls.

Similarly in Kaminaki sekai no Kamisama Katsudou Goddess's power comes from the more follower she has. • Most importantly, both Demon lord and goddess in these two animes have to start their journey from the beginning and challenge more powerful forces than them in their current era.

Youkai Gakkou no Sensei Hajimemashita!
School-set wacky comedies where a human has to attend school with other people that aren't humans, in Seton the human is with anthropomorphic animals and in Yohaji the human is with youkai. There are pointers within both where you learn more about the species there, one regarding different animal species and the other on youkai. Main difference is that Seton's human MC is a student whereas Yohaji's human MC is a teacher, also that Yohaji leans more towards gag humour and Seton is more ecchi oriented within its comedy.

If you enjoyed Kaguya-sama's entertaining cast of characters with interactions that just work, you will probably like Makeine Heroine ga Oosugiru, or Makeine for short. Bonus points if you like comedies with serious moments that stick the landing. While the two shows do not share the same style of humor, with Makeine's humor being more based on wit as opposed to Love is War's sheer ridiculousness, both shows use their comedy to great effect. If you like over-the-top fun, give Makeine a try.

In Mission: Yozakura Family, Taiyo joins the quirky Yozakura spy family, each member equipped with unique skills and distinct personalities, which gradually helps him overcome the trauma of losing a childhood friend in a spy-related incident. His loyalty to his wife, Mutsumi, and her family fuels his growth and commitment to becoming a capable spy. Similarly, in Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari, Hyoma is sent to live with Botan and her Tsukumogami “family,” who challenge his hatred for Tsukumogami—a hatred rooted in his family’s tragic death at the hands of these spirits. Though his Saenome clan duties conflict with his growing bond with Botan’s Tsukumogami, Hyoma begins to heal and learn acceptance by seeing them as family rather than enemies. In both stories, the protagonists’ journeys are shaped by loyalty, love, and family support, allowing them to confront and ultimately transform their past traumas.

Stopping obscure creatures hunting for humans is the mission of our protagonist of supernatural strength and ancient age, with a burdensome past and a secret identity, now living a very ordinary school life (or trying to). These highly enjoyable vampiric anime by Production IG share bloody, dramatic action scenes along with prominent military themes, and highlight the importance of unity/family. Although Blood+ is deeper, darker and less cliche, the similarities continue with their beautiful art styles and endearing characters. Haji - Rai, Kai - Yuusuke and Moses - Tao are especially alike.

Vampires and humans. The epic, endless war between different factions and the one(s) working for peace. An incredibly old and powerful vampire... used as comic relief, with a lovable soft side and chill/clumsy attitude. Greatly alike in terms of story, tropes and art style, both are R-17 series alternating a slower pace to supernatural fight sequences, with blood, drama, a shocking amount of bishounen and sometimes a rather lackluster writing. Trinity Blood takes itself more seriously and revolves around the Vatican, while Noblesse is mostly set at school and often carries a light-hearted feel.
