Mixed Feelings
No Game No Life if a mixed bag. There's a lot to like and a lot to dislike too. I don't blame anyone for disliking it. The characters took some time to grow on me but I did eventually start liking them, especially Shiro. On the other hand, Shiro is sexualized a lot despite being an 11 year old girl. The anime will go out of it's way to make any sex joke or sexualize its characters. Some of the games are fun but who wins sometimes feels contrived. Overall, the anime is just alright. It's worth a try but you're not missing out on ...

Preliminary (9/12 eps)
It's been a while since I've read the manga for this anime but I remember liking the manga a lot more. One reason is because the manga is only (as of this writing) 13 chapters, while the anime is 12 episodes. There's a lot of padding to get to that length, a lot of stuff that doesn't happen in the manga. The anime becomes less fun as it goes on and the flatness of the premise really begins to show. It's just normal fantasy scenarios with an over-powered vending machine. There's not much the anime can do with that. Plus, the characters are really flat ...

I didn't think I would like this show. I looked to be too cutesy and schmaltzy for my old jaded ass. But I tried it and I'm glad I did. It won me over. By the time I reached the end I didn't want it to end. I was having too much fun. Not all the characters are developed but they don't have to be, they filled the function they were to be used for. It does get a little schmaltzy sometimes, but not so much that it bothered me. Overall, I'm really glad I watched this and it has become a new favorite.

Undead Unluck (Anime) add
Undead Unluck hit that sweet spot for me. I like weird shit and this show is definitely weird. It's not a masterpiece, but not everything has to be and I had a lot of fun with it. I had no idea where the show was going next and that's a rarity for me. I continued watching just to see what crazy thing the show would do next. It's not a show for everyone, in fact I can see a lot of people disliking it. Give it one episode if you're not sure. The worst thing that happens is that you're out twenty minutes of your ...

Frieren is a unique show. I like what the show is trying to do, but I don’t think it does it very well. It has a good story but no plot. Not much happens per episode and Frieren herself doesn’t have goals, which makes the show feel aimless. She’s trying to learn as much magic as possible just to learn it, I guess. MAL lists it as an adventure anime but it’s more like a slice of life. I understand why it’s so popular—it deals with themes anime doesn’t normally deal with, but it lacks certain storytelling fundamentals. It's also really boring.

it should have been a one-episode OVA. The first episode was pretty good and set up an interesting premise. It quickly went downhill after that. All the character are thin and underdeveloped. They all get one or two traits and that's it. I couldn't tell you much about the main character besides the fact that he hated his job. The story is predictable and ends on schmaltzy bullshit about connections with other people being good and following your dreams, as if you haven't heard that a million times before. There were some good action scenes and creative moments, but the premise and characters are too ...

Yugioh Arc V is a great tribute to Yugioh’s history up to that point. The nods to the other shows could have easily overtaken Arc V, but the show knows to keep its focus on the main characters. The duels were fun and did not overstay their welcome (with a few exceptions). The characters were nothing special. Yuya has the same youthful idiot personality like a lot of the previous protagonists and his life interest is just The Girl. But they weren’t annoying like in Zexal, I even liked some of them. It was a nice return to form for the franchise. I would be ...

I loved Ranking of Kings, it touched me on a personal level that no anime had until now. I stutter. It isn’t my defining trait and it's not a secret. I don’t see a lot of representation of people who stutter or have speech difficulties in media and when I do, it usually goes a long way. I could not help identifying with Bojii as he was teased by the other kids and even more so when he let the mask slip when he was alone. He's portrayed as a character first and diagnosis second. He does not let his faults get in the way ...

When I first set out to watch GT, I knew it had a bad reputation. It was worse than I expected. I couldn't take anymore after six episodes. The plot actually has some promise, it's a standard "we have to collect the mcguffins" plot, but that served to take the show off Earth and show off some new planets. It's a shame that none of the ones I saw were very interesting. The new characters are annoying. Pen is a whiny brat and they meet a robot along the way who cannot go two minutes without repeating his name. The returning characters do not get ...

I was ready to write off Zexal II as just as bad as the first series. Fortunately, Zexal II is slightly better. Not by much, but better is better. The show doesn’t really get going until season 2 when they go full sci-fi and that’s pretty fun. It feels like this was the show the creators were waiting to get to during the original series. I just don’t know why they waited so long. There was one twist in particular I really enjoyed. I recommend this only for diehard Yu-Gi-Oh fans. It still has the problems of the previous episodes and doesn’t come close to ...
