Devilman: Crybaby is a show I would have loved when I was sixteen, thankfully I'm not sixteen anymore. Never before have I said, “what the fuck is going on?” so many times in a half hour. The show looks good but has very little substance. The story is thin and the characters often act with no logical sense. There’s violence, nudity, gore, and drug use, but only for the sake of being risqué. Yes, the animation is great, but in my opinion, that is not enough to carry a show. I feel like Devilman: Crybaby would be really good if it only had something to read more

I liked Ghost Stories more than I thought I would. The humor is good (despite some jokes that were in bad taste about being mentally handicapped or gay) and some scenes are legitimately spoopy. That being said, I lost interest roughly halfway through. I got tired of the show’s episodic nature. A ghost shows up and is defeated in every episode with nothing ever changing. This made it feel predictable and formulaic. A show having a monster-of-the-week format isn’t inherently a bad thing, but it has to offer an interesting premise, likeable characters, etc. to keep the audience invested that Ghost Stories didn’t have. The read more

As a fan of American comic books, I really liked season one, especially how the show parodied superhero comics. I was disappointed in season two. The jokes from season one have been played out and the second season did not have much to add. Saitama had little to do this season, replaced with other heroes the audience had not seen before. fighting random monsters with little being accomplished. The action was good and exciting, but I was often bored. I found little to connect with and did not care who won the fights. Also, not enough Puri Puri Prisoner. Never enough Puri Puri Prisoner.

Keijo is so ridiculous that it comes off as a parody. In fact, I’m not sure whether it is a parody or not. It reminds me of a comic book called Frankencastle in which the Punisher (who is usually portrayed in violent, down-to-Earth stories) dies and is turned into a Frankenstein-like monster. The comic goes all in on the outlandish premise and has fun with it. Keijo feels the same way. It is the definition of, “dumb but fun.” On the other hand, the plot was stock, the characters were undeveloped, and I thought the premise quickly wore thin. I think it would be better read more

There are only two slice of life shows I have seen that I like (so far), they are Nichijo and now Hinamatsuri. I usually don’t like slice of life shows, but this one won me over. Sometimes the comedy fell flat for me or a joke went on a little too long. But there were some genuinely endearing moments and I did laugh out loud at least once per episode. It’s difficult to review a good comedy because there’s little else to say besides, “it was funny, and I liked it.” This show pleasantly surprised me.…could’ve done with fewer shots of the girls naked, though.

I watched this movie with a group of people, which I think is the best way to see it. The movie is definitely style over substance and a little dumb, but in the best way. It knows it's dumb and has fun with it. I don't think I'd see it again, but it was a lot of fun overall.

I can't submit the review without it being longer. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. read more

It's been a while since I finished Diamond is Unbreakable,so I was excited to finally sit down and revisit some of the characters. I just wish it was in a better story. I did not think the manners gods were interesting. They were not even given a reason for caring about manners so much. At least with stand users you can use the excuse that that is just how one's stand works. I thought the second episode was a lot better, but Rohan was barely involved. And yes, I know the manga it is based on is the same way. I read the manga and read more
