I would argue that 90% of the description for this show is a lie.
Also this review is littered with spoilers but I honestly don't think anyone cares.
"This "new and novel animation entirely in the first-person perspective" is designed to "heal tired hearts.""
I don't get how it would, all it is, is different boys talking to you for like two minutes. Doesn't really heal my tired heart. You know what does? Sleeping.
"...all full of distinctly individual personalities and each catering to viewers who like a certain "type.""
Is a little boy a type? Are two twins who are so rapey that it's unbelievable a "type"? Like I
...
get that they all have different traits but at the core, they just follow a couple of the same archetypes. There are multiple tsunderes. There are multiple just nice guys.
"The boys all live in the same town underneath a starry sky."
What fucking starry sky? The one we saw with the dude camping in a single fucking episode? The one that literally doesn't exist in the third episode when it's daytime? Or the one you can't see in every single other episode.
"Each of the "makura no danshi" will star his own weekly episode as they "sleep beside you and whisper.""
None of them did this. I'd argue the closest we ever got to that was the first boy and the camping boy. Sleeping in the car? Nope. The violinist? Watching you sleep. Actually that's a recurring theme, all of them WATCHING you sleep, not actually sleeping. Creepy.
Honestly, this was an interesting concept for a show, but it was pulled off awfully.
