Son Heung-min has officially surpassed Premier League legend Alan Shearer to secure 9th place in the all-time list for most goal contributions (goals and assists) for a single club in the Premier League.
Since joining Tottenham Hotspur in 2015, Son has continuously contributed both goals and assists, earning him a spot among the league’s elite. His nearly decade-long loyalty and dedication to Tottenham are now being recognized through his impressive achievements on the field.
Under the leadership of manager Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham earned a dominant 4-1 victory over West Ham United in the eighth round of the 2024-25 Premier League season, played on October 19 (KST) at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
Having missed several matches due to injury, Son made his much-anticipated return against West Ham. While many expected him to be introduced as a substitute, Son was surprisingly included in the starting lineup, playing over 70 minutes before being substituted for Timo Werner.
Son’s performance left a significant impact on the match.
In the 53rd minute, Son played a pivotal role in creating Yves Bissouma’s go-ahead goal with a precise pass. Just two minutes later, his sharp shot forced an own goal from the opposition. Then, in the 60th minute, after receiving a pass from Pape Matar Sarr following a defensive stop, Son beat his defender with a step-over move before firing a left-footed shot into the net, marking his triumphant return with a goal.
This was Son’s 123rd Premier League goal, which placed him alongside Raheem Sterling (now at Chelsea) in joint 19th place on the Premier League’s all-time goal-scoring list.
But the accolades didn’t stop there. According to Hotspur HQ, Son’s contributions in the West Ham match propelled him into 9th place for most goal contributions by a player for a single club in Premier League history. Previously in 10th place, Alan Shearer, who played for Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United, now trails Son by two goal contributions.
Hotspur HQ also noted, "Son Heung-min stands out as one of the few players in the top 10 who has an impressive balance between goals and assists. If he avoids injury and continues his form, Son could potentially reach the 200-goal contribution milestone by the end of the season."
The Premier League's official social media accounts also highlighted Son's achievement, though there was a minor error in their report. The league listed Son's tally as 122 goals and 64 assists, when in fact, it should have been 123 goals and 64 assists.
At the top of this prestigious list is Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney, who scored 183 goals and provided 93 assists during his time at the club. His tally surpasses that of Ryan Giggs, who played his entire career at Manchester United and recorded 109 goals and 162 assists.
Son’s former Tottenham teammate Harry Kane ranks 3rd, with 213 goals and 46 assists for Tottenham. Following Kane are Thierry Henry (175 goals and 74 assists) and Frank Lampard (147 goals and 90 assists).
Among active players, Son shares this distinction with only Mohamed Salah, who has scored 160 goals and provided 72 assists. Given Salah’s current form, it’s possible he could surpass the records of Lampard, Henry, and even Kane in the future.
While Son is closing in on Steven Gerrard’s tally of 120 goals and 92 assists, his future at Tottenham may play a crucial role in whether he continues to rise up the rankings. Son is in the final year of his contract with Tottenham and has yet to discuss a renewal with the club. Should he leave Tottenham, his impressive streak would come to an end.
