It was a great ride.
Yofukashi no Uta was with me ever since the pandemic started, it was such a fun thing to read during the endless nights, i had so much stuff to worry about but the feeling i've found while reading it made me feel great, made me kinda forget we were trapped in our houses, because you know, the whole point of the series was Kou going out all the time.

Thanks Kou and Nazuna, you will be missed, and i'm truly grateful to Kotoyama sensei, although i'll never read Dagashi Kashi, i am for sure eager to read his next work. Thank you guys as well for being in the ride, for a series that most of it was improvised, it was amazing.
Now, as of 01/20/24, my night has finally come to an end. I hope the night has finally come to an end for you guys too.

Yeah, it's sad. I found it to be really boring, i didn't managed to like one single character, i find all the choices the main character does stupid... it would be a 3/10 for me if it wasn't for the maestry of technical things Sakamoto - the mangaka, which i've read Innocent before, other of his works - did on Kokou no Hito. It is so beautiful, it has so many experimental things like characters getting crazy in the middle of the cold and their speech getting inverted in the speech balloons, the scene where Mori sees the dawn and there's an orchestra going on

and the symbolism is really cool, the artwork is fantastic, that one chapter where he recommends us to read it while listening to Bob Marley's "No Woman, No Cry" its pretty cool too. His paneling work is amazing too. So for technical reasons i gave it a 7/10 on MyAnimeList, thought it would only be fair even if i didn't like the story or had any fun.
I think Sakamoto could do a big hit doing a collab with someone that can write better than him, and maybe a more lighthearted story. I mean, in the whole Kokou no Hito there's only one scene i've cracked a smile that is when Mori, our main character, gets out of the hospital and a little girl drops a flower and he gives back to her. This was literally the only scene where i felt empathy for Mori because he only do the worst possible decisions, it is astonishing even.
I'm well aware the work wasn't obligated to make me have fun, i watched Parasite (the korean movie that was the first foreigner movie to get Best Movie Of The Year by the Oscar Academy) and didn't have any fun, the atmosphere was heavy, it wasn't a movie made for you to have fun, and i get this. I think Kokou no Hit was probably made with the same intent. The problem is that in Parasite i could understand the characters, whereas the choices Mori did were simply forced so the story could end on a bad note because it is a seinen so it must end in a heavy way. Also Parasite was a movie, Kokou no Hito was a whole 100+ chapter manga. Mori does so many mistakes and simply doesn't learn with them. Also every single side character was forgettable and stereotypical seinen characters that do something bad and that's it, some even might try to redeem themselves but i really didn't liked it.
Sakamoto is probably one of the greatest mangakas we have as right now, he is amazing drawing, but a very uncompelling writer in my humble opinion. I hope he finds his way with a good writer someday.
That's just my opinion, i respect you if you think Kokou no Hito it's a 10/10 and think it is a masterpiece. It just didn't clicked with me and i don't recommend it to anyone besides those who want to see Sakamoto's amazing technical prowess at being a mangaka.

I've been reading manga daily since 2016, at the time of writing this review i have almost 100 mangá completed and this is probably the most fun i've had with the media.
The characters are so damn compelling, the story hits you right on your feelings, the artwork is phenomenal, it is funny, entertaining, wholesome. Although it is a seinen, don't expect sexual violence or these kinds of stuff that's usually in seinen mangá. This is a Soft Seinen mangá.

dad was a big David Bowie stan but that was it. Unfortunately to me - the first "Jimi Hendrix Experience" i had was back when i first started reading manga in early 2017 with the non animated at the time Jojo's Bizarre Adventure part 5, Vento Aureo. Fugo, one of the side characters in Vento Aureo, has a stand named after Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze. That's when i first heard him.
Fast-forward some years and i read a mangá about his story, some nerd curiosities about him like he being just so good that he covered a certain Beatles song after only hearding it once. Some really neat stuff.
Be aware that the story isn't about Jimi Hendrix, it is about the emancipation of Shiori Honda, our main character, and hers students, or like i grew up used to because of One Piece, her nakamas. If they suffer, they suffer together, if they cry, they cry together, if they smile, they smile together. It is just such a cute message.
The bad part is that the english scanlator is pretty behind the monthly (i believe it is a monthly release). The latest chapter available as of right now is chapter 36 from Volume 8 and there's already a volume 14.
One thing though, there are some mangá that no matter how great, won't ever become a anime series, some because of author reasons like Yotsuba, some because a anime simply wouldn't suit the story like in Oyasumi Punpun, and in this case they would need to have so many copyright licenses to play Jimi Hendrix stuff and Nirvana stuff.
There's a pro to never having a anime adaptation, though. The songs the main characters present will always be just as mindblowing as they are in their world in your imagination, I don't recommend this as a first time mangá exactly because of this, i think some people will be turned off because they have to actually think to enjoy this a little more.
The art and panneling in this mangá are simply breathtaking.
Please, give this a read. Remember you don't need to enjoy rock to enjoy this, to enjoy a superb story.

This is simply outstanding in every single way a manga can be.
Kei Yonagi is a really compelling main character, she's fun, she has a real character deveolpment throughout the series.
The secondary characters are amazing as well, with some clever and really smart writing and breathtaking visuals by the 22 year old mangaka drawing it and the author.
Don't think this is just a mere story about "becoming an actress", Act-Age is a story about many things. Dealing with loss, death, sadness, overcoming your personal problems to do something greater.
The first 20 chapters or so are really slow, but after the first arc (Death Island) ends,

the story goes on full wild. Galactic Railroad has some philosophical content that really made me feel something. It reminded me of seinen mangas like Oyasumi Punpun and Vagabond. Yeah, the writing in this manga is really THIS good.
In my opinion, this is the best Weekly Shounen Jump has to offer as of right now.
Go read it! Now! You'll have a good time! This isn't a silly story about a little girl trying to become an actress. Trust me. Kei Yonagi is maybe the greatest woman main character to ever come out of a shounen manga. She's even better than Jojo's Bizarre Adventures Stone Ocean's Jolyne Cujoh. She has a proper character grow. In fact, almost every character in this manga has a proper character arc.

Just catch up with the last chapter available of Yotsuba! It was such a good ride. Funny to see that someone that drew demon hentai can do a series with such good character writing, comedy and continuity. The series is about Yotsuba finding out how life is, how things work out, of a kid trying to do good things and almost all of the times fucking up, it's so relatable i could see myself as a kid in the place of Yotsuba.

lot of mystery under Yotsuba too, we know some stuff about her and her father, her family, but that's not the main focus of it, the focus of the series its Yotsuba herself. The secondary characters are amazing, they're funny as hell and the author draws some really cute characters.
A shame that it takes so long to release new chapters, the series started in 2004 and until now we only have 96 chapters.
You guys should check it out sometime if you have some spare time.
