A 10 means I really loved a series for some reason or another, it doesn't mean I felt the series was "flawless". I have my own rating scale that I lay out on my profile page explaining how and why I rate things the way I do. A series could have PLENTY of flaws, and I might still give it a high rating if it did something I really liked or felt was unique, etc.

Madoka is NOT a bad show on a technical level. It is competently made. It doesn't have too many gaping flaws in its narrative. However, I feel it is a very average show that gets too much praise as a "brilliant" deconstruction, when it actually isn't anywhere near the level of the truly great genre deconstructions of anime/manga/comics.

As for my field of view, I believe I am objective, but if you think I need to watch more animes first, then I'm sure you have a point. But objectively, SAO is of good quality, and I think that should give it a high score. That doesn't mean everyone should give it a 10, but I think it should at least get 7 for that quality. The rest will remain subjective, but my enjoyment and evaluation ended up giving it a 9.5, which equals 10.

For example, I appreciate FMA for what it is. I'm not a fan of the artstyle, but objectively it's well-made, and it definitely has a story to it. That's why it deserves a high score. I'm just not far enough in to determine if it deserves a very high score.
