This was a little disappointing.

I picked this up in my local bookstore, manga section of course, hoping I had just found the next cute yuri. BOY was I wrong. A collection of short stories that were yes, cute, but poorly translated with little to no character development at all. I sped through these in about 20 minutes and haven't picked it back up since. For 16$ this wasn't really worth it.

Now this isn't to saw it wouldn't make a great online collection of shorts. If I had come across this online and read it for free, I might've been a lot happier with this mini-series.

Hearing people say this anime hasn't aged well honestly shocks me.

Elfen Lied is probably one of the darkest anime I've seen, having accumulated many fans and theories about its mysterious ending and overall its meaning. The writers of this story wanted to show us horror on a spiritual level, and that's exactly what they've done in this masterpiece. They've taken blood and gore and mixed it with this itchy feeling of dejection, as we sit and wait knowing it only takes one small thing to turn the invisible gears that is the story of Elfen Lied.
