Huh, you got me there. I usually rate from 1-9, leaving the big 10 for only my all time favorite, but honestly haven't found other shows that deserve that spot, but Lain and Princess Tutu got so close I'm still considering giving them that last bump.
What are your thoughts on the manga vs movie issue?
I've been planning on rewatching K-On! for a long time since I haven't been enjoying any CGDCT shows recently and I'm glad I decided to because I'm loving it! The first season went from 7.5/10 to 9/10 and the second season is currently 9/10 (I'm going to wait till I finish it before deciding whether I should give it 10/10). The show is so much better on a rewatch and I'm surprised by how likable the cast. People always said that K-On! has one of the best casts in anime and I never fully agreed since all I remembered from the show was Ritsu and Yui but now I agree. Yui went from my 2nd girl to 5th (last place) and Ritsu is still #1 with Mugi and Mio tied for 2nd place. It does seem like a Yamada rewatch since I'm rewatching her shows but I'm also planning on finishing every Kyoani show (Chunnibyo S2 is next!)
I still need to watch Higurashi and NGE (they are one of the 20 shows I plan to watch before updating my top 20 anime on my profile).
Kaguya-sama is at its best when it comes to drama (there's not enough though) but if you don't like the first few chapters there's no need to carry on. As for Grand Blue, it was alright at first but I fell in love with it after chapter 10 or something. The comedy just clicked for me and since then, it's been amazing. I saw UTS uploaded a new video (wished he uploaded more frequently) but since I haven't read OP I didn't watch it. I heard it's really depressing :/ Hope you're enjoying it since I've heard amazing things about it!
After I finished rewatching TLS, I read FateSteelTaylor's essays on the movie and it helped me appreciate details that I wasn't aware of. And I love reading interviews of directors based on my favorite anime (I've been reading this interview with Yamada about Koe no Katachi before its release in Japan, you should give it a read!
I already watched the video by UTS last week, he's also one of my favorite Youtubers (the OST that plays at the beginning is Lit from KnK which is also my favorite track from the movie!). I'll watch the confession scene later but I can imagine the amount of effort Naoko put into it.
I hope we can talk about Koe no Katachi when you watch it! At least the bluray will come out next month so you'll be watching it before you know it! I've only read the first volume of the manga but stopped myself because I wanted to be surprised by the anime but I plan to buy the entire collection soon. And I've only read the three chapters of her newest work but I liked it (though for some reason I rather wait for it to be completed). If you want some manga recs than I recommend Grand Blue (a comedy with characters in college), Kaguya-sama (romcom withmindgames) and Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet (a romcom with the main characters getting together early on).
I love having conversations with others. And have a good day!
I'm no romance expert but there are some on your PTW list I enjoyed:
> your profile changed into Wolf Children!
Just had to. Loved it, but is hard to find actual good fanart.
I was checking out your list and you're a true KyoAni fan. Lots of Slice of Life and Romances, but glad to see you have other shows like Garden of Sinners, Lain and NGE as well. If you ever want a rec or talk about a show just leave a message on my profile, I check MAL very often. Also, if you lurk my list I suggest you read my tags instead of my scores, those are a mess and I'm currently rescoring.
