It is, I love the Snow Halation Umi fanart! I couldn't really find a long banner that'd fit into the avatar nicely so I just separated them both this time!

Now that you said so I think you're right on the side characters part. If I hadn't read the manga some actions of the characters wouldn't make sense in the movie. Guess it was too fresh on my mind I didn't notice it wasn't adapted into the movie. So in that regard the manga has the upper hand in character development, but I still consider the movie arc nothing more than a filler or plot device. Also the only romantic tease the movie had was the failed confession (which could have been easily omitted), other than that they were just two broken teenagers trying to find a reason to keep living.

Huh, you got me there. I usually rate from 1-9, leaving the big 10 for only my all time favorite, but honestly haven't found other shows that deserve that spot, but Lain and Princess Tutu got so close I'm still considering giving them that last bump.

Interesting thoughts, you surely are a KyoAni fan.

Great score for Koe!

What are your thoughts on the manga vs movie issue?

I consider both Tamako Market and Free! Kyoani's underrated shows :p

I've been planning on rewatching K-On! for a long time since I haven't been enjoying any CGDCT shows recently and I'm glad I decided to because I'm loving it! The first season went from 7.5/10 to 9/10 and the second season is currently 9/10 (I'm going to wait till I finish it before deciding whether I should give it 10/10). The show is so much better on a rewatch and I'm surprised by how likable the cast. People always said that K-On! has one of the best casts in anime and I never fully agreed since all I remembered from the show was Ritsu and Yui but now I agree. Yui went from my 2nd girl to 5th (last place) and Ritsu is still #1 with Mugi and Mio tied for 2nd place. It does seem like a Yamada rewatch since I'm rewatching her shows but I'm also planning on finishing every Kyoani show (Chunnibyo S2 is next!)

I still need to watch Higurashi and NGE (they are one of the 20 shows I plan to watch before updating my top 20 anime on my profile).

Kaguya-sama is at its best when it comes to drama (there's not enough though) but if you don't like the first few chapters there's no need to carry on. As for Grand Blue, it was alright at first but I fell in love with it after chapter 10 or something. The comedy just clicked for me and since then, it's been amazing. I saw UTS uploaded a new video (wished he uploaded more frequently) but since I haven't read OP I didn't watch it. I heard it's really depressing :/ Hope you're enjoying it since I've heard amazing things about it!

My rating is simple, I just use the MAL version so 7 would be 'good' and 9 would be 'great/fantastic'. I changed my rating for TM and TLS quite a lot (before TM was at 6/10 but then I remembered how much I enjoyed watching it and how the plot with Dera and the Prince didn't bother me as much as it did for others).

After I finished rewatching TLS, I read FateSteelTaylor's essays on the movie and it helped me appreciate details that I wasn't aware of. And I love reading interviews of directors based on my favorite anime (I've been reading this interview with Yamada about Koe no Katachi before its release in Japan, you should give it a read!

I already watched the video by UTS last week, he's also one of my favorite Youtubers (the OST that plays at the beginning is Lit from KnK which is also my favorite track from the movie!). I'll watch the confession scene later but I can imagine the amount of effort Naoko put into it.

I hope we can talk about Koe no Katachi when you watch it! At least the bluray will come out next month so you'll be watching it before you know it! I've only read the first volume of the manga but stopped myself because I wanted to be surprised by the anime but I plan to buy the entire collection soon. And I've only read the three chapters of her newest work but I liked it (though for some reason I rather wait for it to be completed). If you want some manga recs than I recommend Grand Blue (a comedy with characters in college), Kaguya-sama (romcom withmindgames) and Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet (a romcom with the main characters getting together early on).

I love having conversations with others. And have a good day!

> So any good romance you want to recommend?

I'm no romance expert but there are some on your PTW list I enjoyed:

  • Shirayuki-hime: The first season is very sweet and has this Disney fairy-tale vibe. The female lead is strong, not your typical damsel in distress. The second season has better character and romance development but also adds some drama to the mix.
  • Amagami SS: It's omnibus format, with each girl having her own arc and winning. Only 4 episodes per arc, so it can feel very rushed and sometimes even forced. Also I would add the SS+ because it complements the arc of each girl.
  • Ore Monogatari: Not on your list but maybe consider it. Very lighthearted and sweet with close to no drama. It is very episodic tho, so no actual main plot to follow.
  • White Album 2: More of a drama than a romance. Flawed characters and great love triangle. It's very pessimistic, so don't expect a cheerful vibe on this one.

> your profile changed into Wolf Children!

Just had to. Loved it, but is hard to find actual good fanart.

Hey there!!

I was checking out your list and you're a true KyoAni fan. Lots of Slice of Life and Romances, but glad to see you have other shows like Garden of Sinners, Lain and NGE as well. If you ever want a rec or talk about a show just leave a message on my profile, I check MAL very often. Also, if you lurk my list I suggest you read my tags instead of my scores, those are a mess and I'm currently rescoring.
