Ok, where do I start with this massive disappointment. I'll start off with saying that I loved the first Date-A-Live anime and I do not consider myself the biggest fan of this series and I have not read the light novels but this sequel was so disappointing. If this sequel follows the light novel exactly then good job but this sequel pales so much in comparison to the first one because nothing new happens! Date-A-Live II feels like an exact copy and paste of what happened in the last anime but with new spirits. Yes I know it is a sequel or second season to
...
be more exact, but shouldn't sequels and especially second seasons be exploring the mysteries that the previous left behind? I'm going to stop ranting and get into the review.
Story: 3
The story is exactly the same, but only with the introduction of new spirits and our previous spirits are living peacefully with Shido until the bad guys mess everything up. (I'm assuming everybody that is reading this has either heard the gist of the story in the last anime or has watched this series) I understand this is a second season so it should be similar in terms of story but this is almost an exact copy of the previous story. Now is the story bad, not exactly. This is a parody series so don't expect a great story and I honestly like the twist of instead of fighting the spirits, you date them. But it's the fact that they did not do anything new other than introduce some new spirits that become pointless in the end. They could have focused more on the origins of the spirits or Shido's power, but instead we get the exact same thing as last time. I'm not sure if I made my point clear or not but I'm moving on.
Art: 7
One thing that is good about this series is the art. It has not changed too much from the first anime and I do like the fact it has not changed a lot because I really like the art. The colors are bright and vibrant yet dark and malevolent when need be. The characters are well drawn, and the battles are still amazing. Edit: I have just re-watched an episode and I noticed that the character designs do change slightly when shifting from different scenes for whatever, but not all the time. But still very annoying. I have bumped the score down to a 7 from an 8
Sound: 7
The sound isn't too great. I loved the OP, it was very catchy but that's just my opinion. The ED was decent, it has been a while since I watched it so I can't remember the song but I do remember skipping the ED song so I personally didn't like it. As for the insert songs, nothing stood out but everything felt like it belonged, again it has been a while since I watched this so I may be wrong.
Character: 6
I would give this score lower if only it was based only on the new characters introduced, but the old ones do appear quite frequently (I did like the previous spirits better but I do find Tohka and Tobiichi quite annoying at times) The new spirits that appear are the twins: Yuzuru and Kaguya both controlling the power of winds. I do like these two but I felt like there introduction and getting them into the harem took way too long. And finally we have the new spirit Miku. Just like Hatsune Miku her power is her voice, most notably singing. (Coincidence, I think not) As for her character, I found her very annoying and made me want to drop this series. And there is some noticeable change within our main Hero and Heroine Shido and Tohka. Shido for some reason gets a huge power spike out of nowhere, it is implied that it comes from his power to seal spirits but we learn nothing of that, and Tohka becomes very clingy to Shido, and she was already pretty clingy before but it felt like it has been toned up a bit. Not to mention the fact that she seems very useless, as in weak for no apparent reason and now needs to depend on Shido for everything unlike before when she could haul ass and only need Shido for food. Back on track, new characters were okay, Tohka for some reason becomes very weak and Shido becomes overpowered. In short character related stuff was okay but could have been better. Oh yeah, and the new villains are cool but needs more explanation behind what they are doing and why they are doing it.
Enjoyment: 5
The copy and paste story was okay when I first started watching this, because I liked how it hasn't changed but became annoyed when I realized I am watching almost the exact same thing as last time. I know what I said was a bit contradictory but my underlying point is that I don't like watching the exact same thing especially when a sequel repeats what happens before just with different characters. Another thing I did not like about this is how many times they reused the jokes from the first season. The jokes were funny at first but they used it too many times that it just got annoying. I do like how this season there was an actual villain, but the villains motive was never explained well. In short, this had a good start but lost momentum as it progressed.
Overall: 6
With a copy and paste story, boring spirits compared to the first season and a plot that loses steam as it progressed, it's surprising how it gets a 6 in my book. Well with the previous spirits occasionally making appearances, especially Kurumi (my favorite spirit) who plays a big roll in the final battle, good animation and a really catchy opening saves it from complete disaster. Also it was only 10 episode, thank god for that.

Now I know you will take one look at the score I have given it and will automatically think "this is just gonna be another hater review. *ignores review* or *clicks not helpful* Just read the next paragraph. If you agree with it, read a bit more and if you get bored then you can leave. If you don't agree then click not helpful and get on with your life.
If my hunch is right, then at least 50% of the anime community are also gamers. And I bet every single one of them has gotten into some sort of mmorpg before. I have. So I ... can say safely that most of the anime community can relate to Kirito. And Kirito is literally, the perfect gamer. He is not obese, does not live in his mothers basement (I am just pointing out stereotypes sorry if I offend anybody), great at gaming and can pick up chicks in game like they are pokemon. And that people, is how this show hooked so many people. By making a male lead the viewers dream life that is actually somewhat realistic. Going more into the review now. What makes this show that makes haters hate so much yet makes people love it so much. I'm just gonna give some major points now. The Good: -Great Action -Amazing art and sound -The amazing world of SAO -The "Romance" The Bad: -The Characters -The Timeskips -Progression of story does not do what it says on the tin -The "Romance" As I do my review I will try to cover and explain all these points. And remember, this is all personal opinion. Don't rage or anything if you're reading this. Story-5 Everybody in the anime community know the story. I don't need to explain it. At first glance the story seems fine. But after the first 2 episodes, everything goes downhill. From episode 2 to 3, there is massive timeskip. Everybody is level 20-ish more and Kirito is double their level. When I watched this questions aroused like "How is Kirito double their level?" or "Was there anything important that happened on the other floors?". But that is one timeskip in a pool of many. The other big problem I found was that the story set itself up as some grand quest and struggle for survival in the first 2 episodes. After that, all I saw was Kirito helping out some girls then getting married and focusing on his love life for the rest of the SAO arc. Call me blind if you must, but I think I am not the only one with that opinion. Then we have the Alfheim arc (I think I spelled it right). Long story short. It was shit. I barely understood what was the point in making that arc. There was no danger to it anymore. I could rant for a lot longer but I will stop now. Hopefully you get my message about both arcs. Art-10 This probably doesn't deserve a perfect score. But I will cut it some slack. Not to say it was bad or anything, quite the opposite. The character designs (except for Suguha) were really well drawn, the world of SAO and to a lesser extent Alfheim online looks amazing, the action scenes were well choreographed and the boss battles always had me cheering "Haul some ass guys!!!!". I'm 100% sure that 50% of the anime community knows about the awsome art and animation of SAO. And I will say, it lives up to it's hype. Sound-8 I don't remember much about the sound. Not because it sounds bad but it has been a while since I watched this and I don't plan on re-watching this or watching the second season. But the biggest question that comes in my mind when I think about sound or more specifically music in SAO is "Does Crossing Field by LiSA live up to it's hype?" Yes it's really good, but it's a little overhyped. (Personal opinion if you disagree with it; good for you, have a cookie.) That is all I can say about the sound because I don't remember any of the ED's or the other OP and I can't remember the background music. Character-4 Now this is the part of SAO that I find really falls flat on it's face. Kirito is literally just one of those big face cut-out things that you put your face in. He is the perfect character and that is all we see him as. Then we have Asuna. She first appeared as some badass heroine but turned into a "damsel in distress" character and was completely useless later on without Kirito around. I found no character development within the series. I will give this anime the trophy for maybe the first to have "character regression" as in the opposite of character development. There was "romantic" development but I also found it so forced and rushed. I'm sorry people but I had to say it. This "shining" point in this series is what I found one of the worst. What I saw was a really stereotypical or more accurately a generic love story. Boy meets girl, they hang out, go on a "date", then they get married...wut? I can rant about this forever. But I think I made my point. Wait I forgot some characters. Suguha: incest is not wincest. The other two girls in Kirito's harem: they only appeared in 2 episodes. Cant say much other than they are useless without Kirito around. Enjoyment-4 I'll be honest. As terrible as I am making this sound. (And I probably did switch o pure hater review some time along the way) I did enjoy it to an extent. There was only 4-ish episodes that did not involve anybody swinging a sword at some type of boss, and those 4-ish episodes were the really terrible ones. The other episodes were worth watching for the epic boss fights or any sort of duel that happened. Now this does not include the Alfheim arc. If I were to rate the SAO ar and Alfheim arc then SAO would get a 6 while Alfheim gets a 1. Alfheim was just mind-numbingly pointless. If you want to know my thoughts, then google "problems with SAO second half" then click on any blog and read the hate comments. Those are my thoughts. Overall-4 Obviously you might be thinking "the scores don't add up. A 5, 10, 8 and two 4's shouldn't get a medium of 4." And yes it should be something like a 5 or 6. What's stopping it. All the scores was mostly based on SAO. This score and the last also included Alfheim. Which severely brought it down. I'll be honest. The studio could have just extended the SAO arc to all 25 episodes. Then that could have made for a lot less timeskips, and perhaps actually fleshed out the characters. But apparently the manga got cut halfway through so they cut the SAO arc short just threw in the Alfheim arc. I don't know if this is true, I have checked but didn't get any answers.

This is probably one of the most outdated reviews ever for a really unpopular show. But recent events got me into a neptunia phase so I felt like writing this review. Bear in mind that I only re-watched a few episodes before writing this review because I'm lazy and I have not played many of the games. Let's start the review.
First off, people have called this anime a not so great adaption to the video games. But what anime based off a video game is? (I can't think of any) Even for anime standards it is not so great. Little to no story, no fleshed ... out characters, terrible villains e.t.c. And yes, I will agree to those statements. But why am I giving it such a decent score? In the words of Sokka "This is the wacky, time wasting nonsense I've been missing!" (ATLA, Season three, The Fire Emblem Players) And this is exactly what this series is; wacky, time wasting nonsense. Every week I would look forward to watching because of the crazy jokes in this series. Story-5 I would give this part a lower score for the fact that there is basically no story. But how it set itself up was good. So I will keep it at this score. You can read what the story is at the synopsis and that is really all there is to it. And the four goddesses and their sisters working together to protect the lands and stuff like that after signing the treaty. Now I am making this sound like a random mess of events but it's not. *cough*cough*Pupa*cough*cough*. The episodes progress with each other like any other standard anime but you won't feel like there is a story to their overall actions, and everything will lead up to some pointless climax. Which is true. But the enjoyment will be in their actions. Art-8 I'll keep this brief since I suck at reviewing art. The Art The characters are well drawn, and the scenery looks really nice. The Animation Nice bright vibrant colors. Nice animation effects. Sound-7 Not much to say here. The opening is nice. The ending, not so much. The background music is fine. It blends in very well with the scenes which makes it good, but unnoticeable since it blends in so well. Character-6 There are a lot of characters. And for a series that focus on the four goddesses, we see more development within their sisters. We do see that the goddesses have a personality develop throughout the series, what they like, dislike and what peeves them off. But for actual character development, the goddesses sisters get the most development. We see their sisters gaining power and unlocking their powers. Even though it was done early on and there will be almost no character development afterwards, I felt like it was done well. Somewhat cliche, but done well. Enjoyment-9 This is where I felt this anime truly shines. But this is also where it boils down to personal preference. The crazy, random comedy in this show never failed to put a weird grin on my face. But the comedy is also quite stupid and cliched. The characters all had a surprise to them that made me gawk for a few seconds. Again the characters are flat, in more than one way, and are there to fulfill their stereotypes. Overall-7 I used a less harsh scale to rate this anime, that is why the scores are so high. But if I used my regular scale, this thing would fall flat on it's face, and it would not be that accurate. This anime is a parody series. Never expect much from parody series. The score is much higher because my personal enjoyment weighs a little more than the story, characters e.t.c. Now. I would never recommend this series on a normal basis. But if some person was bored of the action packed, intriguing stories of normal animes, I would totally recommend this. This is literally just wacky, time wasting nonsense. And then the nonsense just boils down to personal preference. I am not recommend this to any of you who are reading this. But, if you are bored of normal animes or maybe just need something to get back in the anime mood, by all means go ahead and watch this. Not trying to recommend it, just trying to point it out as an option.

I first saw this series a year ago from the time I am writing this review. I read the title in English and the first thought that hit me was the main protagonist and his friends save loli-children from another world that appeared in his world and a loli-harem begins. That thought scared me off before I could read what it was actually about. After stumbling upon this on Crunchyroll a year later and actually reading the preview I decided to give this a try. And man was my first thought way off. Now after that little backstory let's get this review of "Mondaiji-tachi ga
...
Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo?" under way. (Also there might be some minor spoilers)
Story-8 The overall story is our protagonist Sakamaki Izayoi and two heroines Kasukabe Yuu and Kudou Asuka is transported to a world where basically everything is decided by games. Izayoi and the two heroines meets Kurousagi (Black Rabbit). *minor spoiler alert* Kurousagi tells them she summoned them, and why she summoned them, to the world of games called Little Garden, and explains to them the rules of this world and she also tells them they each have a unique "Gift". These "Gifts" are just superhuman powers and they can also be rare/powerful items. They agree to her reasons of why she summoned them here and join her in the world of games, and so the adventure beings. The series is broken into several arcs each one with a villain and a reason why they fight the villain, e.t.c, e.t.c. Not going to go into any more detail about that, it will take way too long. In the story there are some plot holes that are not mentioned, like "What happens in the world where Izayoi came from because he was teleported out of it." But there are no serious plot holes that stops you from enjoying the show. And for those that have not watched the series and is questioning the plot hole I just mentioned, you will understand why it is not a big issue if you watch the series. The arcs are very well done, each arc ending is tied with a pretty bow no loose ends come to mind while I am writing this review. If I did miss anything, I can't really do anything, so sorry. The one problem that comes to mind with the story is that it is way too short. For a 10-episode they packed a lot into it and leaves the ending for more. So I vote for a second season, even though it probably will not be happening anytime soon. Art-9 When I judge art for animes, I divide it into two sections. The Art and The Animation. In "The Art" section I will review how well the characters are drawn, how well I think they are colored and how well drawn the background and scenery and stuff like that is drawn/looks. In "The Animation" section I will review how well the anime was animated, the CG and stuff, and the choreography for action scenes (if there are any). I am not going to assign values to each section but from the general art score you can probably guess what it will be. Moving on! The Art: The characters are really well drawn. They look the same through scene shifts and close-ups, their eyes don't look out of proportion in any scene, they don't have disappearing noses *cough*cough* mahou sensou *cough*cough*. The scenery is incredible. It looks very realistic as in the drawing looks like the real thing but you can tell it's a drawing. I will be honest, I am not good at reviewing any sort of art. So yeah, I'm sorry, but I will try my best. The scenery stuff doesn't look like the art staff photoshopped a tree and animated in a thousand times to make a forest, the scenery does look hand drawn or at least drawn on those drawing programs you use tablets for. Whatever. I hope you get the point. Again, I am a terrible art reviewer and this review is also probably not that great, but whatever. Moving on! The Animation: The animation for this series is great. The bright colors are animated well so they stand out more on screen. The animation for the scenery is incredible. If you want a good explanation of the animation, just go watch the series. I hope you'll know what I mean if you do. Next. The choreography for the action series is done fabulously. Nothing seems off or anything. The Cg was great except for the explosions. All the CG's looked great and above average to me, but the explosions seemed like the ones you see in DBZ. Not the best compared to the other CG's. If you want a better explanation, just go watch the series yourself. Sound-7 The music in this, I found, was average. People may agree with me some may not. The OP was good. It is my favorite song in this series because it is catchy, upbeat and has a somewhat nostalgic tune at one point. The ED is not my favorite. No offense to anybody but I did not like the singer's voice in the ED. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying it is bad I am just saying I did not like it. The tune in the ED was forgettable to me, and didn't appeal to my taste in music. Again, not trying to say it was bad. The only good part of the ED I found about it was the animation that went along with it. Some may agree some may disagree, but it always brought a smile to my face to see Kurousagi get pumped to get everybody dancing again. If you have no idea what I am talking about, watch the ED. The battle music and all other background music was good. I can't say much about these because they either went so well with the scenery I did not notice or they did not really stand out or anything that made the music memorable. Either way I can't rate this part very high because I can't really remember the background music. Character-8 The characters, I believe, are the strongest and most weakest point of the series. Izayoi, Asuka and Yuu all break the main lead stereotypes. I will go into more detail individually later. And we have Kurousagi, the one main lead that doesn't break the stereotypes. Moving on to details. Izayoi is not the common protagonist. Which makes him super awesome! He is not a whiny highschool boy that believes that friendship will triumph and all that sh*t. Izayoi is a badass with power to match. *Spoiler Alert* Izayoi is so powerful he can throw rocks so hard that on contact with another object, an explosion (if contact with water) or crater (if contact with another solid object) will appear. Don't get him wrong, he is not a complete jerk. He believes in teamwork and that, but only when it is required. He knows that strength of the individuals he is surrounded by and knows that they can handle themselves fine, if the individuals keep their calm. Izayoi has is usually always calm and looks for a way to relieve his boredom when not planning something. Izayoi also has an intelligence that can make even the smartest Asian jealous. Able to solve complex problems and puzzles himself when his teammates can't. The problem though is that he gets little to no backstory. His solutions to problems are usually very rash and there is no thinking process shown when he is solves complex puzzles. What they do show when he solves complex puzzles is him appearing out of nowhere saying he solved the puzzle and gives a very very brief explanation of what he did, which complicated things even more for me because I had to stop and try to think about it, but to no avail. Regardless of those problems, Izayoi is a great character. Asuka is a female lead that is not absolutely useless! Thank god for that! Right now, I can focus on what she isn't but I think it will be quicker to tell you what she is. Asuka is a girl heir to rich family and business. *Spoiler Alert* her "Gift" is that she can bend people's actions to what she says. She is seen in the series as a strong female lead that can fend for herself and gladly help and defend her friends when needed. She is confident in her power and is not afraid to use it. Her intelligence is not as great as Izayoi's but she is still incredibly smart. She helps pitch in ideas when needed, picks fights only when she knows she can win, she is funny and you also get to see a little more of a childish side to her in the later parts of the series. After seeing terrible heroines in SAO, School Days, STB, Tokyo Ravens, e.t.c. She is a breath of fresh air that I really needed. Yuu is a mysterious girl. She is relatively silent throughout the series. And isn't seen doing much. But what we do see is incredible. She has quite the way with animals, she can eat a ton and much more hidden talents. We do get some nice backstory on her and how she got her "Gift" but other than that there is nothing else. She is not useless, in fact she would rather take on some tasks by herself so that others won't get hurt. I can't say much else since there isn't much else to say. But she is a great character even if she doesn't do as much as the others. Lastly we have my favorite Kurousagi. Kurousagi is somewhat overprotective and very overreactive. She is voiced by one of my favorite voice actors: Iori Nomizu. (Don't judge we all have different opinions). Kurousagi is a moon rabbit of the Little Garden and also has the rank of an aristocrat within the Little Garden. She is a motherly figure to the other three main characters and to all her friends. She cares more about her friends than herself, *spoiler* even selling herself as a sex slave to regain one of her friends. But that just adds to her charm. Kurousagi is not the brightest thinker within the group, but makes up for it in flashy fanservice and attacks. I may be decribing her as useless but when she gets angry in the series, you don't want to mess with her, in fact she is probably the only one in the group that can fight Izayoi head on and have a chance of winning. We see what Kurousagi has been through before the other three main characters stepped into the Little Garden and what her dream is. Overall she is a loveable character because she gets flustered easlily when Izayoi or another character, Shiroyasha, teases her, she serves as great comic relief and I think she is the character with the most backstory within the series. Overall, the characters are great, they are smart, strong and funny. But the series being only 10-episodes really cuts down on any character development and backstory. Which I think can be overlooked because A. You can only fit so much into 10-episodes and B. What we do see from the characters are great. We can see them using all their talents to help each other and they do not change who they are within the span of the series. Enjoyment-9 I personally really enjoyed this series. It got me back in the mood for watching anime after a month or so because it had an interesting premise and characters. Plus the look of the anime is amazing. The jokes are a little cliche but what is an anime without its cliches? Overall-9 For some final words outside of the review. Congrats on reading this far, I am sorry if I was beating around the bush at times, and if I did take up too much of your time. I honestly believed that my review was not going to be so long. So again, sorry for taking your time. This is my first review so that's why it is not that great. If you have some comments or hate, comment on my profile, feedback is appreciated. It makes me feel good that people have taken their time to read my opinions, and will help me improve my reviews if I do any more. Back to the review. This is definitely an enjoyable watch. I highly recommend it to any body that needs a lighthearted watch or needs something to get them back into anime. The characters are enjoyable, the art and animation are above average and the story leaves little room to question. The bad part is that this is only 10-episodes so there is not much character development or any room for backstory. The music is not so great either. And there are some plot holes that do pop up, but does not distract you from the overall stuff that goes on.
