[STORY: 8/10]
As expected from a Ghibli film, "Kurenai no Buta" tells a great story that feels otherworldly, yet close to home. This is a movie that all ages can watch while still being thoroughly entertained. It may not be as good as some of Ghibli's other works, but most animated movies would have a hard time competing with masterpieces such as "Spirited Away" or "Princess Mononoke" anyways.
[ART: 9/10]
Great character and world design that Ghibli is known for aren't absent from this feature. A treat to look at and the animation and time put into it is very admirable.
[SOUND: 9/10]
Great music and sound effects all around.
...
The voice actors for the dub are great, which is rare for anime in general, but it's something Ghibli has managed to perfect, making either version you watch enjoyable.
[CHARACTER: 8/10]
There are some great characters and designs in this movie, but the best is the main character himself. It's enjoyable to see Porco's transformation take place throughout the film, and without it, the movie wouldn't be nearly as good as it is.
[ENJOYMENT/OVERALL: 8/10]
Though it isn't the best in the Ghibli catalog, "Kurenai no Buta" is an amazing movie that won't disappoint. It has a great story and morals for all ages, the amazing artwork Ghibli is known for, stellar sound, and a great main character that you can cheer for throughout the entire piece. Such a treat of animation shouldn't be missed.

[STORY: 9/10]
Though not overly complex, this movie accomplishes a lot in its runtime. A simple story of forbidden love is experimented with and told masterfully through the director, Makoto Shinkai. It is very real to life and feels genuine, which really helps us get absorbed into the events that occur all throughout. The only complaint I could have is that there isn't more to this story that we get to see.
[ART: 10/10]
Yet another visually stunning piece by Makoto Shinkai. This movie's art inspires awe and just like with "Byousoku 5 Centimeter", you could probably take a screenshot of any part in the movie and it
...
would be a great wallpaper to use, which isn't something you can say about just any film.
[SOUND: 8/10]
Sound is satisfactory, no faults that I've experienced, whether it be with the voice actors, the music, or the sound effects themselves.
[CHARACTER: 8/10]
While these aren't the most complex, in-depth characters, they are given realistic and unique traits that make them stand out. The real treat is their interactions and how they influence each other throughout the movie.
[ENJOYMENT/OVERALL: 8/10]
This movie is outstanding, whether you're looking at the intriguing story, the masterful animation, beautiful sound effects, or the genuine interactions between the main characters. "Kotonoha no Niwa" is a great movie that should not be skipped by anyone.

[STORY: 4/10]
The story was kind of interesting and had surprising turns, but nothing mindblowing or very original. Some parts can be incredibly slow or boring, but overall you will have a cinematic experience through other means, as the story itself does not carry this movie.
[ART: 10/10]
The visuals are truly amazing. Everything from the animation to the detail of the world we're presented with, it really is a spectacle to behold. You may never see another animated movie that looks as good as this one unless you're watching a Ghibli film or another of Makoto Shinkai's works.
[SOUND: 7/10]
Sound effects and music are solid and the voice
...
actors fit and do very well in their roles. Not much else to say here, it was just quality work.
[CHARACTER: 3/10]
This is where the movie really lacks. The only dynamic character I can think of is Mitsuha, as the others just feel undercooked or placed there to serve as fillers to make the world feel real and believable, even the other main character, Taki. If this department was more focused on, this movie would easily be much better.
[ENJOYMENT/OVERALL: 5/10]
While this movie has outstanding visuals and solid audio, the actual story and characters bring it down in the end. The characters and story aren't very original or creative, leaving me wondering why this movie is so praised. I"m guessing the visuals, but you could watch "Byousoku 5 Centimeter" or "Kotonoha no Niwa" by the same director and have a better experience that shares the same visual excellence this movie has. Even if this movie is extremely overrated, it is still an alright movie, and if you haven't seen many anime or even movies in general, you will likely enjoy this.

[STORY: 3/10]
"K-ON!" is not a very story-rich or enticing show. It wants to be a slice of life, but one that does little to tell a good story, which is something pretty important for this type of show to do, or it just gets boring fast. Cute girls doing everyday things isn't enough to keep me interested.
[ART: 7/10]
The art is above average and the character design is very well done, but that's all I can say. Nothing is spectacular about it that makes it stand out besides the carefully crafted cute characters.
[SOUND: 4/10]
Characters can be annoying and loud, but the voice actors do a good
...
job at least. Music for openings is pretty enjoyable, but otherwise, it's pretty mediocre.
[CHARACTER: 2/10]
There are a couple of enjoyable characters, but mostly, the cast is made up of lackluster and generic ones. The character design is done very well, as I said earlier, but only to appeal in a cutesy way. Nothing much to say besides that.
[ENJOYMENT/OVERALL: 3/10]
"K-ON!" could've benefited from a more interesting series of events that strayed away from the generic "let's do club stuff and be high school kids" idea that a huge chunk of these slice of life shows try to replicate (and only a few get it right). It definitely has standout character design, but lacks in most other areas and really brings it down to an awful rating.

[STORY: 10/10]
This story is one not everybody will enjoy. "Ghost in the Shell" requires attention to and adequate analyzation of the material to completely understand and appreciate it. This movie is philosophically dense, constantly questioning the ideas of identity and what actually makes us human. In this future take on Japan and its state, humans and technology have merged, leaving the discussion open on the previously stated question, "What makes us human?" Most people possess cybernetic shells (to a varying degree) as substitutes for body parts, and some retain only their "brain", possibly the only thing left of the humanity they once harbored (if at
...
all). These themes are consistent throughout and the way they are is handled all throughout is masterful.
[ART: 10/10]
The art of this movie is infallible at times, completely shocking the viewer with its intricacy and execution. Everything from model movement to character design is handled extraordinarily well. An amazing amount of time went into the visuals of this movie and it really shows. This is one of the most beautiful animated films of its decade.
[SOUND: 10/10]
The soundtrack to this movie is simply iconic. Its experimental and distinctive sound has brought it to such a level, portraying the eerie world that is fused with technology and the conflict the protagonist feels towards such an environment. The voice actors are great and become these characters, expressing these character's feelings through their words that wouldn't connect with us visually.
[CHARACTER: 10/10]
Sense of identity is prevalent in this movie. The main character, Motoko, constantly questions her state of existence. She is not a unique being, as evidenced by the multiple cyborg models that are of the same replica as Motoko shown dwelling throughout the environment that has been built here. Her body is mostly cybernetic, and she is only left with what she believes is her brain to differentiate her from artificial intelligence, but even this is put into jeopardy when she contemplates if it's her actual brain or just a program telling her it is. None of the questions asked are answered in this film and it only helps to enhance the experience. This may not be overly relatable at this point in our technological advancement, but it will only become more and more relevant as time passes, and that's what is so revolutionary about "Ghost in the Shell".
[ENJOYMENT/OVERALL: 10/10]
While "Ghost in the Shell" is not an easy movie to understand for some, if you take the time to analyze it closely and re-watch it again, you may be able to discover and admire the beauty and philosophic properties that lie within it. Its constant questioning of what makes us human and what makes us who we are is seen in literature countless times throughout human existence, the only difference is that this form has a different setting and conveyance that sets it apart from the rest. This movie is a masterpiece that transcends other contemporaries of its time, whether it be the groundbreaking visuals, iconic soundtrack, or beautiful story direction that questions our very existence. Possibly one of the best animated works to ever be released.

[STORY: 10/10]
It may take a while to warm up to it, but the story structure is done exceedingly well throughout this series. The unique way it shows the different possibilities and timelines our protagonist lives through is interesting and is even more enhanced by the last two episodes. Not only is it thought provoking, but it has many respectable morals and philosophies interwoven into the show's dialogue that some may miss if they don't look into it, which is something I enjoyed a great deal.
[ART: 10/10]
The Tatami Galaxy has a very unique art style to it that sets it apart from its contemporaries. It's refreshing
...
to see something that isn't generic and trying to fit in with the crowd nowadays. The distinct character designs are very well done and help to portray the characters even without knowing their personalities beforehand.
[SOUND: 10/10]
The voice actors fit the characters perfectly and the soundtrack is phenomenal. Not much to complain about here.
[CHARACTER: 9/10]
While some characters aren't meant to be more than pieces that move the story forward, those who are meant to play an important role are very well done, especially the main character. This show's format doesn't lend to much possibility of character development, so I won't rate it too harshly regarding that.
[ENJOYMENT/OVERALL: 10/10]
I'm sure most people will either love this show or not understand all of the hype that it has garnered, but personally I can say this was an beautifully unique experience that I enjoyed immensely, whether it be its art style, storytelling aspect, or just great characters.

[STORY: 8/10]
The story featured in this movie is very interesting and quality, but it derails near the end and feels pretty incomplete. I don't know if this was due to lack of run-time or that the book ends the same way, but it just feels rushed.
[ART: 10/10]
One of the most beautifully animated movies I've ever seen. They really go all out on "Howl's Moving Castle" and the animation is completely baffling throughout. It's something you need to see with your own eyes, because words aren't enough to explain the intricate and delicate care put into every single frame and line.
[SOUND: 10/10]
The voice actors for both
...
the sub and dub are outstanding, nothing new there. The sound effects and music are top notch too, which is another thing I love about this movie.
[CHARACTER: 8/10]
This movie introduces plenty of intriguing characters, but some of them just don't get enough time and fall short of expectations. Even the best are hindered by the movie's ending, even if they had a good deal of development.
[ENJOYMENT/OVERALL: 9/10]
This is a movie that is flawed due to the rushed ending and not fully realized characters, but definitely worth a watch nonetheless due to its high points. It may not be the best Ghibli movie, but that's already a near impossible competition to win anyways. I guarantee you'll enjoy this beautifully crafted movie if you love great visuals and adventure/romance stories.

[STORY: 10/10]
This movie is not for everyone. Some will find the realism in it disgusting, but others will praise that realism. Personally, I love how it gives us insight into how World War II effected the citizens of Japan back in the day, it helps you to understand and sympathize with them. These two particular citizens effected by it, both a brother and a little sister, try their best to make it through, but the cruelty of war makes that very difficult. Truly heartbreaking to watch and it isn't for the faint of heart.
[ART: 10/10]
Ghibli's animation turns more real and grating this time around, ditching
...
the more light-hearted feel for something more fitting of this premise. You can really feel the emotion that comes from the stunning details put into their faces and the pain they go through psychologically. The atmosphere is handled carefully: it never gets too happy, but the movie will show the hope that these kids have even when death could be at their door the next day, and that hurts to watch, but in the best way possible.
[SOUND: 10/10]
The voice actors really work hard to bring these characters to life and make them as realistic as possible. They're understandably agitated and depressed due to their current circumstances, so they need to be believable. These actors take that seriously and definitely deliver, much to my appreciation. The music fits very well and the sound effects are great, no complaints here.
[CHARACTER: 10/10]
The way the characters are effected by the people around them and by their surroundings is done impeccably. You see the constant struggles they face and how they try to overcome them, especially Seita.
[ENJOYMENT/OVERALL: 10/10]
War movies can be realistic or very glorified and inaccurate, but "Hotaru no Haka" hits the mark. It may be an animated feature, but it feels more realistic than most live action movies based on the same subject. The actor's flawless portrayals, the stunning animation, and the heartbreaking story all come together to create on of the most emotional movies to come out the past few decades.

[STORY: 8/10]
Furiko has only three minutes to convey its story, and it completely nails it without any words being spoken. As a flipbook, you wouldn't expect it to do much of anything besides be a cool little animation, but this is so much more than most. Every frame counts and works to tell us an emotionally gripping story about a man who regrets his mistakes and tries to turn back time to fix them, only to realize that his denial won't allow for his retribution by means of doing the impossible. It really hits home the inevitability of time and how you should use it
...
as best you can because you can never get it back once it's gone.
[ART: 7/10]
The art isn't amazing by any means, but for a flipbook, it works and my expectations aren't as high as they would be for a full-on animated series. The story works well enough with what it has and comes together well.
[SOUND: 9/10]
The song that plays in the background does very well to fit the theme and evoke emotion in the viewer. Without this, Furiko wouldn't be the same, as it brings so much feeling into the piece and only improves it.
[CHARACTER: 8/10]
For this type of animation that's only three minutes, I'm not expecting any amazing character development to take place. It goes through the character's entire adult life and does a great job of portraying them at each moment and showing how they're affected by the hardships they face, which is honestly all it needed to do.
[ENJOYMENT/OVERALL: 8/10]
While Furiko is not comparable to other shows that have hours and even days to develop their characters and story, for the amount of time it takes up, it makes every second count and continues to be an enjoyable experience and get me emotional each time I've watched it. Three minutes are used extremely well and I don't have many gripes at all with this piece. This is what other flipbooks should aspire to be.

[STORY: 10/10]
Brotherhood is an adaption of the Fullmetal Alchemist manga written by Hiromu Arakawa after it was possible to faithfully adapt it, unlike the original show that came out during the early stages of the series that relied on filler to continue thriving. Due to this and Arakawa's magnificent writing, we have one of the best stories told through the anime medium with this new adaptation of her work. The story of Edward and how he comes to understand the world around him and matures is really an unforgettable treat and a pleasure to behold. The others characters are done just as much justice, as
...
they all grow and contribute to the main story in an important way, which is an extremely impressive thing to pull off.
[ART: 10/10]
The graphics are very much improved for this adaptation of the show when compared to the original, which is appreciated a great deal. The character designs are pretty similar to the previous show, but there are improvements and new designs that only make it a better experience as a whole.
[SOUND: 10/10]
Some voice actors return to their roles for this adaptation, but there are a few new actors that turn out to be an advantage for this series. The new voice actors do a perfect job at showing us these character's raw emotions through their portrayal. The soundtrack is also upped in quality, and it proves to be yet another positive alteration.
[CHARACTER: 10/10]
As I said in the story section, these are one of the most solid casts of characters I've witnessed in anime and it's extremely faithful to the manga. Nobody's potential feels wasted and by the end, you feel that the characters were impeccably fleshed out and that their stories were settled and complete enough to satisfy us by the the time the show has concluded.
[ENJOYMENT/OVERALL: 10/10]
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood hits every mark for me. It's has an incredibly addicting story, the art and design is very well done, the actors portray the characters perfectly, and every character has real purpose and feels like they belong. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is one of my favorites of all time and I'll never forget the beauty of this masterfully done show.
