So I read your review and decided to do one of my own on Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2199(OVA). I have answered all of your points on the review.

Sure will Do! I think a similar thing about Haruhi. I rated essentially didn't understand the original which wasn't in chronological order. Then watched it in chronological order but it was so anticlimactic that way. So i think I rated the chronological one an 8 because It was very enjoyable with the knowledge of the second season + chronological rerun material, which by itself I rated a 7. However the series as a whole would be a 9 because Disappearance is a solid 10 to me. And i appreciate that the franchise essentially built up to that steadily. So in all I love the series but only one of the individual pieces gets a really high score. Its certainly a unique franchise in that sense and many others.

Fair enough. Your explanation makes a lot of sense. Thanks for explaining. I'm in between on my ratings with enjoyment and critically speaking. If i really enjoy something I will give it a boosted score from what it might really deserve. For instance, for a long time I had Angel Beats at a 10 because it used to be my favorite show when I was younger. Recently I dropped it to a 9 which to some people would still be generous, and I'm aware of some of its issues, but since they didn't bother me when watching the show I let it keep its score. SO, there's a bit of a mix, with maybe a little extra weight to the enjoyment factor. That said there are shows where my enjoyment was definitely a 10 that I don't rate a ten for the reasons you listed, like My Bride is a Mermaid, which was hilarious, but didn't have any other thing to make it one of the best shows I've watched.

Just read your review of Space Battleship Yamato. I haven't finished the show, so my opinion is fairly unbiased. I am just wondering, you said it was very enjoyable but you had many problems with the plot but also compliment it for being a good remake. I'm just wondering if 5 is truly an accurate representation of how you feel or if its really more of a 6 or 7. You describes the show as an enjoyable ride. yet rated it as a 5 which wouldn't seem enjoyable at all to me. Anyways I was just curious. Good Review.

I apologize for the late reply. Been pretty busy for the past couple of weeks.

I'm playing on SNES. The new additions to the DS version didn't bode well with me (such as Frog losing his cheesy dialect). Not exactly a bad port, but if possible I'd much rather play the original.

In regards to ZZ Gundam, I'm about 10 episodes in. Deciding to focus on the lives of colonies effected by the constant fighting is interesting in concept, however the execution leaves a lot to be desired. I just hope the alleged switch from comedic to serious isn't too jarring.

Also, from your recently watched it seems as though you really liked Rose of Versailles. Is it that good? I've actually been meaning to watch it for some time now.

I'm actually watching it right now. I tried to watch CCA, because most Gundam fans believe ZZ to be bad and skippable, but the story was so jarring I had to go back to ZZ just to understand what was going on.

I'm only a few episodes in, and I have to agree with them. What got me into the franchise were the war themes, but ZZ seemingly disregards them. Apparently it becomes more serious at about the halfway point, so I'm looking forward to that.

Also, I'm replaying Chrono Trigger right now so I can try Chrono Cross afterward. I'll compare both games once completed.

Just finished Zeta. Was honestly not expecting the ending to play out the way it did. A great war drama (if not a bit too melodramatic at times)

love your Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2199 review, there are so many plot holes, everyone just breaking stuff spending resources like crazy and not to mention punishment for mutiny is imprisonment for few days, If this was real military then it would be a death sentence, even flying without permission or not following orders will get you court marshaled. I wonder how the hell stupid humanity survived this long. And why the hell our hero's brother didn't retreated when he was ordered to, waste of good ship.

It's pretty great so far. Amuro and Char's dynamic is really well done; and Kamille seems to be better suited to the role of MC than Amuro. I actually haven't found any major problems with it as of yet

Interesting. Thanks for the info. Once I play it I'll let you know

Also, I respect the fact that you wrote the review despite having conflicted feelings about it. That takes courage

I agree man. It's still my favorite game of all time. Sadly I haven't had the chance to play Chrono Cross yet. Would you recommend it? I have fond memories of the original so I don't want to end up massively disappointed by it

Great Yamato 2199 review. Now I feel a little less crazy for not liking it. Also, from your profile pic it seems that you're a Chrono Trigger fan. I respect that
