Rating System:
Mission:
Attempt to define the "focus" or "intents" of an anime and use numerical rating to determine level of success for achieving those goals.
Pros:
-Keeps criticisms and thoughts of anime self-contained within the work, rather than a generalized and indirect comparison to other anime
-Creates a more grounded stage for analysis
-Makes it easier to correct ratings in the future, as it maintains a level of justification
Cons:
-Requires a defined "focus/intent" that is assumed to be correct at the current point in time
-Conclusion of success is vague and is also assumed to be correct at the current point in time
-Creating a rating system based on "focus/intent" is subject to ignoring other parts of the anime, and is subject to what can be inflated/deflating ratings compared to the 'overall quality/value' of the anime
-Defining "focus/intent" can become very repetitive
-"focus/intent" itself has its own range of specificity, which can be potentially different from anime to anime, which can lead to issues of scope in the ratings themselves
Reading my ratings:
Under the "Tags" column, each primary "intent" will be listed alongside its "weight", a percentage in parentheses. The evaluation of these weighted "intents" construct the numerical score, out of 10 points. After the "intents", past "||", is my opinion on whether the "overall quality" of the anime is higher, equal, or lower to the numerical value given with solely "intent" in mind.
A (?) anywhere indicates I am particularly unsure of it.
