Lol, that seems to be what everyone says. Age is just a number, after all! =P

Yeah, I've tried keeping up with seasonals, but for the most part the all end up boring me in some way. It's partially why I spend most of my time watching anime that are deemed "critically-acclaimed" in some sense, at least until I feel confident enough in the medium to really keep my eyes peeled for newer series that have the potential to become classics in the future.

I've been meaning to look into Amanchu, but I've also heard the same thing before in that it's rather sub-par compared to Aria. I didn't realize the manga was still ongoing, though :O

Hey, happy birthday dude!! Hope you have an awesome day! :D

Also, sorry I didn't reply to your response on that elitist debate thread regarding Aria and YKK. Tbh, it's the kind of thread that I ultimately feel is better for me to stay away from, lol. Lots of drama there that I feel like I'd be sucked into if I stuck around for too long (not regarding your response, of course, but just in general).

So I'm not entirely sure of the history behind Aria and YKK and how they became such staples of "elitist" culture, mostly because I'm not exactly a seasoned anime/manga consumer. I only really began delving into these mediums a few years back, haha. But anyway, frankly I just see them as the pinnacle of the iyashikei genre, which is why they're all time favorites of mine, though I do often see them referred to as textbook-elitist titles. But as you said, apparently it's a newer thing within those groups. Eh, it is what it is. =P

I took an example from Cyril Pedrosa, a former Disney France animator, who went to pursue his career into comics. He offers some perspectives and dynamic artwork not seen very often in the medium. I read 3 Shadows but he has made other notable works ever since
Another animator, Regis Camargo, made a very good sports webcomic called Hockey, Love and Guts, also inspired by anime. Can be read here. Because it is his own work without any editors inbetween, the animation influence is even more evident

I finally finished the 3 shadows comic, thanks for the rec! It was pretty unique in storytelling from other graphic novels I read. His way of drawing the characters make the flow extremely dynamic, even with the square panels which usually hinder this type of movement. I may check him out in the future. I definitely need to check out more animators' works translated onto comics/manga, though I don't know many well enough to check them out.
