Rough outline of my scoring system:
10- Only my favorites. These shows are very special to me for various reasons
9 - Very good, just missing something special
8- Memorable and overall great, but has a few nitpicks
7- Good show, a score I usually give to the best of any given season
6- Worthwhile but I've seen better
5- Ain't bad but not great
4- Very "ehh", but might still be fun
3- Not worth watching, but might have one or two redeemable qualities
2- Probably will drop at this point
1- Waste of time
Unrated- Either a short or an OVA that I didn't feel like rating
Since youre planning Blood Sign, please dont be put off by the first chapters, or the first volume in general, it has a rough start, i loved it, but ive seen more then enough people not like the first volume, it gets alot better from V2 onward, and V5 is a genuine 10/10, all the people ive encouraged to read more after the first volume all came to love it
Yukino is great for avatars and fanarts for some reason, lol.
Love seeing someone with Bakuman in their favs, either the manga or the anime! I just absolutely loved everything about it. It had some phenomenal characters
Thanks for the friends request! How did you come across my profile?
I see we have very similar taste! I see some really good anime in your favourites, steins;gate, shirobako, NGE, ping pong.
Suzumiya haruhi, oregairu and idolmaster and perfect blue were good too!
I NEED to watch NHK
Well it's not as though there is anything wrong with researching a show beforehand, although I suppose it could reult in shows that have simple premises but are great because of the way its executed and directed being overlooked (like k-on and its brilliant character development) but further knowledge could also improve the viewing experience of a show, sometimes knowing things about its production and the people working on it can make the show a lot more interesting. At least that's what I've thought at several occasions.
I see, I never build up expectations before I watch shows because I feel that always expecting average is the easiest way to make sure that my viewing experience is never affected, if I watch a show above average I would be pleasantly surprised but watching a bad show would be a disappointment. Building up expectations means that if the show doesn't meet those expectations then watching it would be a disappointment (even if overall it was about 7/10 when expecting an 8 or 9) which personally, I don't want to do, since I prefer to feel about a show based on its own merits not what I thought it would be beforehand.
Thanks for the reply, it would be great to see more people in AA actually talking about interesting things instead of just posting depressing and angsty quotes.
About your blog on Viewing Habits:
I know that some of these points aren't the most relevant to your post but there were some things you mentioned that I did want to talk about.
The first thing I want to bring up is judging anime (or anything else) by the synopsis. I noticed that you said that you "knew I would like it" and I was wondering what made you think that. I know a lot of people judge anime by the synopsis, which I don't really understand; isn't it the execution of the ideas presented in the anime that determines its quality, not just the ideas themselves? I understand why themes and ideas that are relatable to someone generally would make the anime more enjoyable to that person. Personally, however, even if the ideas are relatable, if they are explored poorly then I will not enjoy it.
Secondly, on the point of watching anime just to say that you've completed it, I just wanted to explain why I do this, (I don't know if this is the point you were trying to make but whatever) I like to watch popular and highly-acclaimed shows just to be able to have my own opinion on them as I don’t like parroting other people’s opinions.
I also want to briefly bring up what makes you want to watch an anime, the fact that you go through an “extensive process” to pick what you watch is something that I find quite interesting because I take a very different approach. I’m open to watching anything (and I do), as I mentioned before I just like being able to have an opinion on a show; so, I watch shows knowing that they are terrible simply because they interest me. All I really need to watch an anime is the impression that I’m going to have a strong opinion of it.
+ a very pedantic complaint - I noticed you used double quotation marks (") when single quotation marks should be used ('). I know that this isn't a big deal at all but i thought it to be worth mentioning, just in the case that you cared. (feel free to point out any spelling/punctuation/grammar mistakes in this (I'm sure you have quite the selection to choose from).
If it wasn't for you, i
would have not marathoned it.
I jjjust can't bbbbelieve I didn't watch it much ealier.
It literally can't in to my top 5 anime.
And the ost is to die for.
Thanks, I was planning to drop it because is kinda weird and fan service ish at first, but the continuous high ratings for it are persuading me to watch it! And your review are one of them.
