I went to SF for 10 days and i loved the place (especially the Japantown). While downtown was pretty intense.. the Japantown was quiet and perfect for my tastes... considering i was able to eat taiyaki and other japanese dishes. + all the japanese stores selling awesome stuff :D
It was pretty cold when i went there though (May) but im used to colder lol here in Canada.
Since you live in the US i think you dont really see how pricey elsewhere is... cause Quebec is much pricier... we got 15% tax on everything and gas prices are almost 2x pricier per liter than you...

Oh yeah definitely, I'll definitely be wary enough and avoid doing anything dangerous. I gave myself a curfew too, I'll try to leave early in the day and come back before night, I can just watch anime when I'm at the hotel or something so I'll be fine.
