First, let me say, I have no idea why this anime is ranked in the 100's or why some people believe this anime deserves to be called a "masterpiece". I'd say this anime is below average.
Story 3/10
To call this anime a mystery is a bit of an exaggeration; in mysteries, characters do things like collect evidence, develop theories about the crime, question witnesses, and reveal who the criminal is. This anime's idea of a mystery is this: Araragi meets a girl with a supernatural problem, he asks Oshino how to solve it, Oshino tells him how to solve it, Araragi does that and the episode
...
is over.
For such a simple plot the writer's sure know how to drag it out; every episode is at least a two-parter. What makes these story arcs so unnecessarily long is how about 95% of each episode is just the characters talking, with the other 5% being the supernatural stuff. It isn't even like they're talking about anything important; Araragi and Hachikuji waste so much time arguing about Hachikuji mispronouncing Araragi's name!
Characters 4/10
Araragi is a good character; I like how kind is and how much he wants to help people. Also, he plays a pretty good straight-man as he's always at the receiving end of all the supernatural craziness.
Senjougahara is a tsundere. That is a fact not an opinion because she call herself a tsundere in the first episode. She's also acts like a stereotypical tsundere by constantly insulting Araragi, the guy she supposedly loves, and only acts bitchy to hide her true emotions. However, what I hate about Senjougahara is how she's just a tsundere and there isn't anything complex or unique about her. All she ever does is insult Araragi and tell him how she loves him at the same time. It's pretty bad to have such a bare basic main character!
Oshino is a good character, but I was really disappointed we never learn more about him. Why does he live in an abandoned school? What does he do when Araragi isn't around? How did he and Araragi meet? Maybe these questions will get answered in season 2.
Art 2/10
Now, let me address the elephant in the room: the animation.
It's obvious this anime had a small budget to work with, but there's cutting corners and then there's having scenes that are just a black canvases with the words "animation number: none" at the bottom of the screen which happens regularly throughout each episode. Even stranger then that there's one episode where Araragi and Senjougahara are walking then Araragi's head turns into a live-action cake that a bunch of live-action people eat. Why?
I really don't know if this was some artistic choice by the creators, maybe the cake is a metaphor for something, or if my first assumption was right and the animators had an extremely small budget, but either way the animation is what really ruins the anime most for me.
Overall 4/10
I really don't know why so many people seem to think this anime is a masterpiece; the story was mostly filler with very little mystery, all the characters, except for Araragi, are more like character archetypes then real fully-developed characters, and the animation just seems to cut in and out whenever it feels like it!
If you want to watch a good supernatural mystery, I'd recommend either Ghost Hunt or Garden of Sinners.

B-Daman Crossfire is the sequel to the original show, Battle B-Daman, and while I did enjoy crossfire more than the original B-Daman it still has some (new and old) problems.
Story 5/10
The story isn't anything new; the MC Ricky battles some other character while getting progressively stronger with it all leading up to the big tournament.
I mentioned in my review of Battle B-Daman that the biggest problem I have with the show is that B-Daman just seems like a boring game where kids just shoot marbles at each other with very little strategy involved. Unfortunately, B-Daman has only gotten more boring since the original
...
show as now there are no more Direct Hit Battles!
Seriously, what is more exciting: two guys trying to shoot each other or two guys shooting targets? I can only assume the writers didn't include DH Battles in Crossfire because they didn't want kids hurting each other in real life by shooting marbles at each other. However, DH Battles were the most exciting feature of the original show and without them now every battle is nothing more than watching kids shoot marbles at blocks or pins!
Art 6/10
The art is definitely what has improved the most since the original show. I like how now when characters battle each other now these monsters called B-Animals appear. It definitely makes the battles cooler.
Also, I just love Ruri's design; those bunny ears she wears whenever she referees a battle are so adorable.
Characters 6/10
I like Ricky's positive and determined attitude and I also like the friendship he develops with his B-Daman Dracyan, because B-Daman can talk now.
Naoua is a good villain; I like how cunning and deceitful he is and how he has this pathological desire to control everyone.
Although, Natsumi wasn't in every episode, I though she was still a funny comic relief given how over excited she can get about things.
Overall 5/10
While I think Crossfire improved B-Daman with the inclusion of B-Animals and the fact B-Daman can talk now, I still feel like is was a real detriment to the show eliminating Direct Hit Battles. I'd recommend Medabots or Bakugan over this.

Battle B-Daman is Beyblade.
Battle B-Daman is Medabots.
It's Yu-Gi-Oh!
It's Bakuman.
It's every other anime that was made to sell toys!
I may be being too hard on this anime since it is for kids, but the biggest problem I have with this anime is it doesn't offer anything new. It's nothing, but a collection of cliches and character tropes I have seen been used in these previously mentioned anime and more!
Now, don't get me wrong, I like anime like Yu-Gi-Oh and Beyblade and the others, but the problem with this anime is there is NOTHING that sets it apart from the others.
...
Story 4/10
The first problem I have with the story is B-Daman doesn't look that fun of a game. Half the battles they fight and the games they play are stuff like "who can knock over the most pins with their B-Daman" or "can you hit the target" which just isn't as exciting as when it's one player fighting another directly. Plus, I have a tough time imagining kids in real life playing B-Daman.
Also, the story could not be more simpler. What I liked about other anime like Yu-Gi-Oh and Medabots was at least there was a much more interesting and complex story arc and characters had better motivations. Here it's just "I'm evil because the script says I'm evil".
Characters 3/10
Take the most annoying parts of characters like Goku from Dragon Ball Z and Naruto from Naruto and be sure to leave out what made them cool and then you have Yamato. There isn't anything cool or funny about Yamato. He's just annoying, gives speeches about friendship, and wins all his battles with his main character deus ex machina powers.
The villain isn't much better, either. Marta-B was a generic and forgettable villain that wanted to destroy the world because...oh right, his only motivation is he's evil.
There were some characters I did like, however.
Bull, with his multiple personalities, was fun.
Yamato's mom was funny whenever she got mad.
However, neither of these characters get as much screen time as Yamato, unfortunately.
Art 6/10
The art would have to probably be the best part of this show.
It's cool how the show is set in this world where you have characters that are giant talking cats, robots, and sort of humans like Lee. What is with his eyes?! There's no white, it's just black! Is he an alien?
Also, there is a large variety of B-Daman and each one is pretty well and uniquely designed.
Overall 4/10
Battle B-Daman is pretty forgettable anime. There's nothing memorable or worthwhile about the characters. The story is about as bare bones as you can get. I'd recommend Medabots or Beyblade over this.

If you're wondering why I gave this anime a 10/10 then let me tell you that this is the funniest anime I've ever seen and any anime that can be this consistently funny over 195 episodes deserves to be called a masterpiece.
Characters 10/10
It's the characters that truly make this anime great as they all just do their jobs so well.
Ataru: What I love most about Ataru is how I have nothing nice to say about him. There are a lot of other anime with characters who are perverts, but normally these characters have some redeeming quality to them that makes up for
...
their perversion. Ataru has no redeeming quality. He is selfish, greedy, immoral, he'll flirt with other women while on a date with Lum, and he'll even flirt with Lum's mother right in front of her!
But don't worry because Ataru doesn't go unpunished. Ataru has been shot, electrocuted, exploded, incinerated, crushed, and tortured in every way imaginable, but it doesn't stop him. Ataru can be electrocuted and then two seconds later be back up "girl hunting" again only to be electrocuted yet again!
That brings me to the second thing I love about Ataru is how persistent he is. There's an episode where Lum leaves Ataru alone and for five straight days and nights Ataru did nothing, but "girl hunt". Ataru is simply unstoppable. He's more than just a pervert; he's like some kind of demon sent from Hell to terrorize women and it's hilarious every time he gets punished for it.
Lum: What I love most about Lum is her devotion to Ataru. No matter often Ataru cheats on her, Lum still holds out hope that someday Ataru will change for the better and love her back. However, this doesn't mean Lum doesn't electrocute Ataru or hits him with a hammer each time he even looks at another women.
However, Lum can be devious as well. There are several episodes where Lum either tries to brainwash Ataru into loving her or forces him to taking her on a date.
Some other really funny characters:
Shinobu - who gets super strength whenever she gets mad which happens whenever Ataru flirts with her
Mr. Onsen - their teacher who they torture for just doing his job
Cherry - a monk that appears form nowhere and makes whatever situation they're in worse
Ran - whose constantly trying to make Lum's life miserable as part of her revenge against Lum
Mendou - Ataru's rival that always tries to decapitate Ataru whenever he sees him
Story 9/10
What I love about the story for this show is how unpredictable it is. For example, there's an episode where Mendou turns into a woman, Ataru gets swallowed by a giant amoeba, and Adam & Eve make an appearance all in the same episode! Also, it's funny how some episodes didn't really have a solution to their problem like the characters would just be like "this is life now" and somehow everything is back to normal in the next episode.
Furthermore, I really love how fast paced this show is. There was very little space between jokes and almost every joke is funny. It's really one of those shows that you watch when you want to laugh.
Sound 10/10
The voice acting was good, but what I really love is this songs in this anime. I really like 80's music so I of coursed enjoyed the soundtrack for this show, but more importantly it's funny how almost every song in the show is about love and how much Lum loves Ataru. That is hilarious considering just how messed up their relationship is!
Overall 10/10
Lum and Ataru are either the worst or the best couple ever. Ataru constantly cheats on Lum, but Lum always holds out hope Ataru will love her someday. At the same time, however, Ataru does love Lum and would never leave her, but he's such a pervert that he can't stop "girl hunting". In a lot of ways, Lum and Ataru are perfect for each other.
These are some of the funniest characters I have ever seen living in a random story with 80's era animation and sound.
I love Those Obnoxious Aliens :)

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam is the sequel to the original Mobile Suit Gundam and follows the crew of the Argama of the AEUG as they fight against the malevolent Titans.
Story 9/10
The story is basically the same as the story from the original Mobile Suit Gundam only replace the White Base with the Argama and Amuro with Kamille.
However, there some big differences between the two shows in terms of story which I liked.
First, Zeta Gundam is a lot darker and has a lot more death overall. For example, there's an episode where we see a colony that the Titans released poison gas in and
...
you see all these human skeletons and dead bodies just floating in the ruins of the colony. If I was a kid this would give me nightmares. The Titans have no problem with killing civilians who resist them.
Second, the conflict in Zeta Gundam isn't just man vs. man like it was the original Gundam. It's also man vs. society because the AEUG isnt just fighting the Titans, they're fighting for the rights of all people born in space (or "spacenoids") as the Earth Federation doesn't care about the Space Colonies or what the Titans do to them.
Characters 8/10
Kamille is a good character, but one thing I dislike about him is how similar he is to Amuro. They're both cocky and, at first, have trouble taking orders, but get more skilled as the show goes on and learn more about their new type abilities.
However, one thing that sets Kamille apart from Amuro is how much tragedy he has to overcome. I already mentioned how much darker Zeta is than the original Gundam, but despite the deaths of his friends and his own heartbreak Kamille keeps fighting and never gives up.
Jerid is a Titan pilot and more of a minor villain, but what I love about him is how passionately he hates Kamille. If his own comrades are in the way, he'll shoot through them to get to Kamille. He reminds a little of Sasuke from Naruto by how he's driven by this all-consuming need for revenge.
Reccoa is another good character, but it's her motivation that confuses me. She's constantly saying things like "I'm a woman first, and a soldier second" and "I'm doing this because I'm a woman". I'm not a woman so maybe that's why I have no idea what she's talking about.
Char (or Quatro) is now a protagonist and acts as a teacher and leader to Kamille. What I like about Char is, much like in the original show, he's able to keep calm under pressure and never panics or acts irrationally. Furthermore, I like how Char has genuinely noble intentions and wants to create a better world for all of humanity.
Some other characters I really liked were Sarah, Four, and Rosamnia who were all new types and Titans. They're each such tragic characters who hate fighting, but the Titans just view them as living weapons since, as new types, they're natural mobile suit pilots. It's made even more tragic by how much Kamille wants to help them, but can't.
Art 8/10
The art style and animation have both really improved since the original show. The designs of the mobile suits are a lot more detailed and the animation is more fluid as well.
Also, there's a lot of new mobile suits introduced as well like the Psycho Gundam and mobile suits that can transform from a mobile suit to a mobile armor thereby greatly increasing their speed and maneuverability.
Overall 8/10
Zeta Gundam was a great sequel to the original Gundam, but I think what prevented me from enjoying it as much was just how similar the story and some of the characters were to the original show which almost made it feel predictable. It's still a great story with good characters, however, and does advance the over-arcing plot.

First, let me clear up a few misconceptions I had about this anime before I watched it:
You see on the cover how Erio is flying through the air and there's a UFO in the corner,
well, let me clear that up, there are no UFO's in this anime and Erio can't fly or has any powers what-so-ever. I have no idea where the writers came up with the title for this anime.
Story 3/10
It's difficult for me to talk about this anime's story since so little seemed to happen in this anime. I understand that this is a slice-of-life anime, but typically in slice-of-life anime there's more
...
character development or drama or something.
I'm not sure you can even call this a comedy since there were so few jokes and I didn't laugh at the few there were.
Furthermore, there all these plot points that were never resolved. Is Erio an alien or isn't she? What makes her hair glow? Where was she when she disappeared?
Art 5/10
If you watch a lot of anime then you know this trick: if your anime is dull and boring then just put a picture of a cute girl on the cover.
There isn't anything that special about the art in terms of animation and character design. It's very basic and average.
Character 4/10
I mentioned before how this is a slice-of-life anime thus there's more focus on the characters then the story, but the problem all these characters are so boring that I'm having trouble thinking of things to say about them.
Ryushi is a cute girl who doesn't like people telling her she's cute
Maekawa is a tall girl who likes to wear random cosplays like she'll wear a fish costume to play baseball.
Meme is Makoto's aunt who constantly flirts with him which is more uncomfortable than funny.
Erio goes through some development, but it isn't a very drastic change. By the end, she's still shy and afraid of people.
Overall 4/10
I was really disappointed with this anime. There's no story. The character development was minimal at best. And I just found the entire anime boring.

Mobile Suit Gundam, the original mecha anime that inspired so many other anime of the same genre. It truly deserves to be called a classic.
Story 9/10
What I love about the story is how suspenseful it is; most of the show takes place with the main character's behind enemy lines thus they have to be on almost constant guard for enemy attacks. Furthermore, there's a real sense of danger as well because the Gundam's pilot, Amuro, has no formal military training yet he's fighting these veteran soldiers and you can see the fear in his eyes therefore it really makes you question whether Amuro will
...
survive or not.
Furthermore, it adds to the suspense how at the end of every episode, instead of saying "to be continued" or "the journey continues", the narrator says "who will survive".
Another thing I love about the story is how it doesn't downplay the horror of war. It's not always soldiers fighting soldiers, children and innocent civilians are effected as well. There's one episode where a civilian woman talks about how she wants to raise her son in her hometown on Earth, but then learns her hometown was destroyed and you see how devastated she is.
Also, I love how the bad guys, the Zeon soldiers, are depicted as real people. In a lot of stories the bad guys are just meant to be these nameless, faceless evil men, but in this anime it's hard to forget that there are people piloting those robots. For example, there's an episode where the fiancee of a soldier Amuro killed comes to kill him to avenge her lost love and it's so tragic when she dies so pointlessly.
However, the story isn't perfect.
Part of the reason I only gave this anime 9/10 was because, near the end, they add these new characters called "new types" who have these psychic powers and it becomes a big plot point. However, it just feels shoehorned in and doesn't fit well with the rest of the story.
Animation 8/10
First, you have to remember that this anime aired in 1979 and the animators had a tight budget to work with with most of the animation focused on animating the battle scenes leaving little to the character animation. All of the characters have very limited facial expressions and show very little emotion.
However, one thing I really like is the design of Gundam and the other mobile suits. Gundam has a pretty wide range of weapons including the Beam Cannon, Beam Saber, Beam Trident, the Shield, and of course Gundam can still do a lot of damage fighting with its' bare hands.
Characters 10/10
Amuro is an amazing and complex character that goes through a lot of changes. You have to remember Amuro never wanted to be a soldier thus it isn't entirely surprising when he begins experiencing PTSD and even gives serious thought to quitting. However, Amuro overcomes these feelings and as the show progresses Amuro and the other character all learn to rely on each other and fight to protect each other.
Char is Amuro's rival and greatest enemy. What I love about Char is how calm and calculating he is during battle. He always waits for the perfect time to attack and knows when to retreat. However, while I love Char, I do wish we could have seen more of him in the show.
As for the other characters, I also wish more attention was given to side characters like Mr. Bright and Fraw Bow.
Sound 7/10
The voice acting is fine, bust it's the opening music that I have a problem with. The opening song is so upbeat and just doesn't seem appropriate for such violent anime about war.
Overall 9/10
Despite being a product of its' time in terms of animation, I'd still recommend this anime to anyone, especially seasoned anime fans who want to know how giant robots became so popular in Japan.

SKET Dance is a slice-of-life comedy about the members of the Campus Support Group or the Sket-dan whose purpose is to help students with whatever problem they may have.
Story 7/10
What I really like about the story is how the SKET-dan doesn't just solve people's problems, but makes their lives better. Momoka almost becomes an entirely new person because of how the SKET-dan helped her. It always bothered me how in other anime like Pokemon they'll introduce these new characters that appear in one episode and are never seen again, but with SKET Dance we see what happened to these characters later and how their
...
lives are better.
However, SKET Dance also has some very funny comedy and could get pretty surreal. There's a running joke where Bossun and the others repeatedly accidentally take some drug their faculty advisor Chuu created which could turn them invisible or who knows what! There's also all the weird and wacky supporting characters as well like Roman who constantly breaks the fourth wall and Shinzo who dresses and talks like a samurai that each bring a lot of comedy.
Furthermore, it's funny whenever SKET Dance would makes references to and parodies to other anime or anime cliches. For example, there's an episode where the MC's compete in a sports tournament and parody all the shounen cliches. There's also a crossover episode with the cast of Gintama where Himeko accuses Gintama of trying to steal their airtime.
Characters 9/10
Hiimeko: Himeko is the muscle of the SKET-dan who can take down a dozen delinquents by herself with the help of her trusty field hockey stick. Himeko also serves as the straight-man of the group who reacts and comments whenever Bossun or Switch do or say something stupid. It's funny how fast Himeko is with her quips (or tsukomis) and it's even funnier when she breaks the fourth wall with them like when she asks Bossun "why are you the main character, again?".
Switch: Switch is the brains of the SKET-dan who has data on almost everyone at the school in his laptop. What I like about Switch is he's a true otaku; whenever they're in the clubroom, he'll be playing dating sims. Furthermore, since Switch never shows any emotion, he does a great deadpan face whenever he does something funny.
Bossun: Bossun is the leader of the SKET-dan thus he naturally comes up with all the plans on how they solve their clients problem and, although Bossun may seem like an idiot, he comes up with some very creative ideas. Also, I love it whenever Bossun would get obsessed over something in an episode; for example, there's an episode where Bossun gets obsessed with origami and starts making origami versions of everything.
Saaya: I'm sure there are people who don't agree with me, but I think SKET Dance would have been better without Saaya. Saaya is a girl who has a crush on Bossun and what I don't like about her is how I think the writers only added her because they wanted a love-interest character. Saaya has a crush on Bossun and she's a tsundere (you know she's a tsundere because the other characters repeatedly call her one) and that's all she is. There's nothing interesting about her, but she appears so much in the later episodes. Also, why does the anime need Saaya when Bossun and Himeko already work so well together? I would've much rather seen them get romantic!
Overall 8/10
SKET Dance has a good balance of drama and comedy; it has a lot of funny characters and great jokes, but it also has serious and emotional episodes as well with characters who grow and change over time. However, many of the supporting characters only have one personality trait that makes them stand out and some characters like Saaya were just unnecessary.

The Wind Rises tells the story of Jirou, a man with the simple dream of creating beautiful airplanes and who would go on to make history by designing the A6M Zero fighter.
Story 10/10
First, what I really like about the story is how, although the movie is only 2 hours long, it really shows all the key moments in Jirou's life. Starting from when Jirou is just a little boy reading magazines about airplanes to when he's an adult leading a whole team of engineers on building an airplane he designed himself. I really like how the movie is told in chronological order like this
...
so that the audience can follow Jirou's pursuit of his dream from start to finish.
However, another theme of this movie is the romance that forms between Jirou and his love interest Naoko. I don't want to spoil what happens, but I will say that I cried for this beautiful love that forms between them. Just holding someones hand can be an immaculate expression of love.
Characters 9/10
Jirou: What I like about Jirou is that he's never discouraged or beaten down; even when he fails, we see how his failures haunt him, but he doesn't let them get him down and instead uses them for inspiration to try harder and look at a problem from a new perspective. I also love how much he cares for Naoko and will drop everything immediately to go be with her if she needs him.
If I had one complaint with Jirou, it'd be he may be too positive. I know I said I liked how Jirou never gives up, but at the same time I think it might have humanized him more if there was a scene where Jirou at least thought about quitting.
Kirou: Kirou is Jiirou's best friend and colleague who in many ways is the antithesis of Jirou. While Jirou views airplanes as these flying works of art, Kirou views them more as just machines. What I like about Kirou is how, throughout the movie, he reminds Jirou of the reality that the planes they're building are going to be used for war and thus most will not return while also reminding Jirou of the limitations of Japan's current technology as compared to Germany's.
Kirou helps keep the movie grounded in reality while also providing some exposition about the current state of Japan in the 1940's and WW2.
Naoko: Naoko is Jirou's love interest and while I will say she isn't the most original character I still love how devoted she is to Jirou and the risks she puts herself in to be with him.
Art 8/10
I really admire Miyazaki's depiction of nature which is why the scene with the earthquake is one of my favorite in the movie. Miyazaki really captures the destructive power of nature with how the earthquake just uproots the entire city of Tokyo and damaged shown in the aftermath.
Also, it's clear Miyazaki did a lot of research on airplanes for this movie by how detailed the designs of the planes are, from the individual rivets to the variety of planes shown in the movie.
Finally, I like how the movie creatively shows Jirou's ideas; for example, Jirou will be working at his desk when suddenly the room disappears and we see the wind blowing through Jirou's hair and the airplane Jirou's designing right now flying through the air.
Overall 9/10
While the Wind Rises isn't my favorite Ghibli movie, I would say it's about as good as Ghibli's other movies like Spriited Away and Princess Mononoke. The reason I didn't give this movie 10/10 was just because the movie is just the life of this man who wants to build airplanes, no epic fantasy adventure with magic and monsters and other worlds like with some of Ghibli's other movies.
If you want to see an exciting adventure than don't watch this movie;
if you want to see a man's pursuit of his dream, then definitely watch this movie.

Medabots Spirits is the sequel to Medabots and follows the continuing adventures of Ikki and Metabee who now have to stop the evil boy genius Cam who wants to destroy all medabots and have children play with kilobots instead. However, unlike medabots, kilobots have no emotions and are simply killing machines built to destroy with medafighters who don't play by any rules.
BTW, why in the english dub are they called kilobots? Kilo is a unit of measurement like a kilogram or a kilometer. Just call them killbots or kilabots or something.
Story 4/10
Medabots have gotten some upgrades since the original show; now medabots can
...
transform into an action mode, a demolition mode, and can even fuse together into one medabot. I know that sounds awesome in theory, but in execution not really. First, with action mode, a medabot transforms into a car or hovercraft, but it isn't very useful in battle because think how useful a car is in a fight; second, demolition mode drastically increases a meadbots attack power, but Ikki almost never uses demolition mode; and finally, in the span of the entire show, they only use fusion twice. Why? You have all these great new weapons, why don't you use them? They just keep relying on the Medaforce like back in the original show.
The original show had a good balance of action and comedy, but in this version there's barely any comedy. This is due mostly to the writers writing out all of the comic relief characters like the Rubber Robo Gang, Mr. Referee, and Karen who were present in the original show and were some of my favorite characters.
Finally, the theme of this show is the importance of teamwork and friendship, but I hate how much it's hammered in. I understand this show is made for kids, but even kids get tired of listening to friendship speeches.
Characters 6/10
Cam: Cam is Ikki's new rival who wants to destroy all medabots and replace them with kilobots. What I like about Cam is how evil and cruel he is. Cam is merciless to his opponents and will keep attacking even after they've surrendered. Cam isn't kinder to his own kilobots either; if Cam feels his kilobot isn't strong enough then he doesn't hesitate to have it destroyed and replaced with another one. Cam even orders his own kilobots to destroy each other just to test which one is strongest.
However, while Cam is definitely evil, his plan isn't all that evil. In the original show, the Rubber Robo Gang wanted to take over the world, but Cam's goal is simply to get kids to play with kilobots instead of medabots. That isn't very evil, I mean in real life some people play Yu-Gi-Oh and others play Magic: The Gathering, but that doesn't mean one game is evil and the other isn't.
The Screws: The Screws gang are the three bullies at Ikki's school; I already mentioned how the writers cut out their old comic relief characters like the Rubber Robo Gang and Mr. Referee, but I think the writers tried to replace them by giving the Screws more attention. However, this was a big mistake because the Screws aren't nearly as funny. One running joke I hate is how the Screws keep trusting Cam just for Cam to betray them. Is the joke they're idiots for trusting Cam?
Ms. Nae: Nae is a new character and the medabot mechanic who continuously repairs Medabee and the others. There isn't anything bad about Nae, but I hate how her entire character seems to just be a plot device the writers can use to give friendship speeches. I guess she's suppose to replace that chicken salesman that was always giving advice from the original show.
Art 6/10
Similar to how in Pokemon there's always a whole bunch of new pokemon whenever a new generation starts, many new kilobots and medabots are introduced. One thing that makes kilobots visually different from medabots is how kilobots are clearly designed solely for battle and not for friendship. For example, the kilobot Desperado has a body that's just one giant gun and the kilobot Cutter has a body that's just one giant knife.
Overall 5/10
Medabots Spirits was a step-down from the original show. It seemed like the writers had some cool ideas, but didn't know how to use them. Personally, I think Medabots was renewed for a second season as a cash grab only to sell more toys.
