Yo the issue with TG:re is its a sequel to the manga not root A witch was anime original and not canon.

In the manga Kaneki does not join Aogiri, and sticks with some of his friends and there where a load of arcs that where skipped in the first two seasons of the anime and the ending is different.

hey there, just thought i'd let you know that season 2 of tokyo ghoul is completely original and has nothing to do with the actual story of tokyo ghoul. It goes season 1 (which was adapted rather poorly) straight into season 3. You'll be confused if you don't read the manga as the anime is far to drastically different.
