'Absurd' is the perfect word to describe these shows. They're absurd, out-there, full of humor and hijinx, and they're all given character with great writing, humor, and an art style which, although not the norm, is very unique and a pleasure to watch (especially the action scenes!) Emotional when they need to be, hitting all the right cues. A short series that will be worth your while. Chances are if you like one, you'll love the other as well!

Male otaku protagonist meets the girl of his dreams (or so he thinks). Something goes terribly wrong, and now the pairs must figure out how to deal with this new state of being. The protagonists of these series feel like they could have been twins, really. The shows have similar vibes, themes, deal with darker subject and have a nice take on humor as well. They feel similar, but different enough in their execution and story that I'd recommend not skipping out on either one!

Phantom in the Twilight

Romance, vampire(s), and a secret government trying to control the relationships between humans and non-humans. While Devils Line is more focused on romance, and Phantom in the Twilight is more like a group of friends battling side-by-side. Both anime have a refreshing kind of humor, and can handle their darker moments quite well. Not to mention that they each have MC girls that are not completely useless, which is definitely a plus!

Heartwarming, sweet moments, adventure, tension, and an art style that never fails to amaze the eyes. Both movies may be a little abstract at times, but they pull at your heart in just the right way. Two stories about growing up in a strange world, learning about the importance of family in the best way possible. Studio Chizu is a master at producing wholesome movies.

If you like rooting for a group of incredibly clever kids, trying to uncover a mystery in a world that may be grander than first expected, you're gonna love this one. Both shows will have you on the edge of your seat; whether you decide to watch it all in one go, or take it one episode at a time. Superb writing, plot twists, and a strong cast of protagonists & antagonists make for two really great anime that I'd definitely recommend watching!
