Welcome.
This is my MAL page. I don't know how to do all that fancy CSS editing so my page is rather bland as you can tell. All I practically use it for is to keep track of my anime watching habits.
Scoring:
As far as my scoring habits, it's all practically dependent on my enjoyment.
Although some shows may be rated pretty low according to some peoples' standards, that does not automatically mean I didn't enjoy it. Here's a breakdown of my rating so you can get a better understanding:
5-10: I enjoyed. ANY show rated 5 or above, I DID enjoy. Some more than others, but a 5 does not equate to not enjoyable; instead it's more of an "okay to "pretty good" score. Also, a 10 doesn't necessarily equate to a "Masterpiece" in my eyes. Yes some of the shows I have rated a 10 I would consider masterpieces, however, the 10 rating is more of a "Better than great" or "Amazing" score. Below is an even further breakdown of the scores:
-
8-10: I loved
-
6-7: I liked
-
5: I fairly liked to an extent
4: Meh. Shows rated a 4 were for the most part fairly average, however, instead they leaned more towards the "bad" side of things. These were not necessarily very bad, and some of these shows may have been somewhat enjoyable.
3: Bad. Shows rated a 3 had basically no redeeming qualities. Unlike a score of 4 which has aspects that I liked that are overshadowed by the negatives, scores of 3 contain next to nothing that I liked and also elicited negative emotions (mainly annoyance or anger). Usually once a series earns the score of 3 it is warranted to be dropped, however, there may be times where I justify finishing a show I've rated a 3 for whatever reason, still doesn't excuse the fact that it was practically a waste of time.
1-2: Horrible. Scores of 1 and 2 are reserved for those shows which I have: 1) Finished and 2) Terribly disliked. The first point is crucial. I'm not about to give a "horrible" score to a series I have not finished since it may have some redeeming factors within the parts I did not watch.
About Me:
I started watching anime actively around late 2013/early 2014. Before that I had watched only a handful of anime including Afro Samurai, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Naruto, and Fairy Tail. Fairy Tail is the one I credit for getting me "into" anime and the one I consider my gateway anime. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed the ones I had watched previously, however, they didn't leave me wanting more. They didn't make me want to actively seek out more like it... until I watched Fairy Tail. After that is when I began searching for shows on my own. Whether it was one I had heard about from a friend, one I had seen a clip of while watching some AMV or "Top Anime Opening" videos, or just something I had come across that sounded interesting. That is how it all began. Now I'm here with over 200 completed entries on my MAL and I don't see myself stopping. Anime has become a medium I thoroughly enjoy despite the occasional bad show I come across.
My love of anime has also sparked another wonderful hobby of mine which is figure collecting. Currently my collection isn't the largest, but I plan to slowly start expanding it. If interested, you can see my collection here:
