Diamond is Unbreakable differs quite a bit from the other JoJo's Parts - instead of traveling all over the place it fixates on a small town called Morioh. However, this does not mean that we get any less action and story in this part!
JoJo's is known for it's wacky, bizarre and often unpredictable setting. And this part definitely outdid itself. The idea that the story takes place in a small town really contrasts itself from the previous parts. Instead of going through long adventures to defeat the big bad guy that wants to kill everyone, this part is a lot more laid back but still
...
has his fair share of intense and emotional moments.
After watching more and more episodes you start to get attached to this town like singing along to the classic Morioh radio tune and knowing many of the characters. Because the part takes place in such a small area you get this feeling of familiarity with your surroundings. You notice landmarks or buildings from previous episodes or you get attached to the characters like they are your neighbor.
The character design, as expected of Araki, is amazing as always. Especially the main antagonist is probably my favourite of all time. It's the first time that the villain isn't that "big bad guy" with some big goal in mind - no - it's just another guy that could maybe be your co-worker, your neighbor or your old classmate. Even though throughout the series it seems quite cheerful and happy there is always that feeling in the back of your head that something isn't right in this town, some sort of unease.
The stands in this part are also more creative than ever and are always very fun to watch. I've had problems in some parts of JoJo's where some stands where confusing, boring and didn't feel very polished. This part really didn't let me down.
Overall, this is probably the best part of all of JoJo's (I'm considering a tie with Part 7). I loved every second of it.
