Either that or Blade of the Immortal. Blade of the Immortal is also fun to read once you get used to the characters names and the faction they belong to. It took me around 40 or 50 chapters to really get into it.
Buddha is my favourite out of the Tezuka works that I've read so far. Historical drama is probably one of my top genres too, so that helped! Tezuka had this weird narrative style where random comedic moments would just happen out of nowhere (even in the middle of fairly grim and dramatic bits); it can come across as a bit inappropriate and jarring, but I found it quite amusing myself. The strangest bits were the really anachronistic ones (e.g., people referring to modern technology like telephones, but they're in the middle of ancient India).
How are you liking Phoenix so far? I think I like its first few volumes the most, but it was an overall good read to me.
How's Billy Bat, by the way? I've been thinking of reading it.
