- Both of these have exceptional character development; - all the main characters are extremely cool and likeable in their own ways; - both focus on the "adventures" of a tight group of characters, bound by some common goal; - both are serious and have quite dark moments (far more for saiyuuki though), both can be very humorous at times too; - the bromance is strong in both; - both have a very distinctive, unique are style (derived from Minekura- and Ono-sensei respective styles). Saiyuuki is far longer and Saraiya develops slower. Nonetheless both are pure brilliance and if you loved one, there's a high chance you will love the other too.

+ I found the development of main characters to follow similar paths (throughout the duration of the show they both mature from being annoying cowards - one as a timid high school girl and the other a young lordling fussed over and shielded from the big bad world - and grow into their roles + very little romance in both (there are some moments, but not to the point where you could add a romance tag) + both are fantasy adventures + both involve whole countries + they both do a great job of creating their own original worlds, with their own rules, origins and traditions - while one (juuni kokuki) is ultimately about taking control over and then ruling a kingdom, the other is about saving the world (so very little politics compared to the former)

InuYasha

Inuyasha and Kenshin share a lot of qualities, especially considering the 'feel' or 'mood' of the series. Where one is set in Meiji era, the other takes place in a fantastical alternate world, however both concentrate on fighting on the canvas of more light-hearted slice of life (which occasionally goes into deeper, darker drama) comedy and romance. All in all, if you watched one and want more of that feeling you had while watching, the other if the first place you ought to visit.

Both have a very similar setting (well, besides the werecat thing obviously), main characters and the dynamic between them, as well as the general 'feeling' of the whole manga. If you liked one, it's highly likely that you will enjoy the other.

At first both look like a typical high-school romance, however both the stories as well as characters are made so perfectly that they really stand out.
