Love your Texhnolyze review! I found the way you related its themes to our own lives particularly powerful.

Saw your list, read a couple of reviews and you seem like a great guy. Makes me happy when i see normal, well thought of ratings and reviews. Only thing that bugs me is why you stopped shippuuden and rated it 6. Continue and have a bit faith in the show.

paranoia agent is an anime Highlights trends for things that are larger than what is apparent....

the anime talk about The atomic bomb and disasters the Japanese society and Hilo Kitty.

"The lost children are a wonderful mushroom cloud in the sky"

This was the first House in the anime opening He announces it with sarcastic pleasure.

OK I just read your Sky Crawlers review and I woud like to friendly discuss the following statements:

1) "most of people will probably want to give up on the movie before the first hour, since even though it’s a movie with war as a central subject and has some battles, the development is somewhat slow". War and battle scenes do not necessarly imply slow pace. Take a look at Berserk, an anime TV show with lots of war scenes that is actually able to develop at high pace. But most times it happens just the way you described, having, in fact, a causal relation between the existence of war scenes and slow pace. That does not justify the boredom of the audience and the sloppyness of the script. So, I pretty much believe that with this sentence you actually supported my belief that this movie has a lot of problems in actually delivering what it meant to.

2) "nothing really outstanding by an action point of view, but really deep in a psychological one". I'm one of those guys who thinks action does not mean a good movie. Having lots of explosions means nothing. What is important is the script, the dialogues, the tridimensionality of the characters. And that's the major flaw of The Sky Crawlers. You say the movie adopted a psychological approach to the story, but having a cigarette smoked every 15 minutes (which happens a lot in cinema and literature, not just anime) does not result in good dialogues. In fact, the development of the characters is incoherent, the dialogues are boring and unrealistic (e.g. the bed talk in the first half of the movie) and the deepness the movie seeks to achieve is rather shallow and predictable. I recognize the potential that The Sky Crawlers had, but it was completly wasted in terms of execution.

3) [there are actually several statements] "Having said that, the visual effects are really something else. The air battles are truly well done, and the 3D effects catch the eyes. It’s a partnership between Warner Brothers and I.G., so this is not so surprising. Besides, it’s from the same director of the Ghost in the Shell movies. The OST is just beautiful". I believe that in this particular terms it is more a matter of opinion or taste, but I have to say the 3D effects are completly out of set, the character design does not match with the set, and most times the faces of the characters are unproportional and distracting - that is, the viewer is laughing at the misdrawn face and not paying attention to the poor written dialogues. And as a musician, I must say the OST is pretty much standard, recycled so called "epic" music, just like you may find in Last Exile, Star Wars or many other stuff. I can understand that you mention the fact that this movie was directed by the same director of Ghost In The Shell, but quoting Warner Bros. does not really persuade anyone to believe this movie is good...

4) "As an adaptation of a novel, the development of the plot sometimes seems to have some flaws. As a matter of fact, the series’ author said that this was the most difficult of his works to adapt. But these “flaws” are almost part of the charm of the movie; you’ll receive some answers, but you will still wonder about a lot of unsettled thing". In this statement you recognize the flaws of the movie, but then you say those flaws are part of its charm, also scoring it with a 9/10. Don't you find that behaviour incoherent? I may accept that you liked a movie you found very unperfect, but actually writing a good review on it I honestly think it's too much.

5) "They don’t know who they’re fighting against nor why – a reflection about war itself". ... And the birds go tweet, does that mean I'll direct a 2 hour animated movie?

6) "Yuichi Kannami, the main character, doesn’t even remember his past". Aren't we all sick of the amnesia archetype? A bad movie has one of or both of these 2 things: amnesia or a deus ex machina finale.

7) "If you have some patience to watch something that’s nothing like simple-minded, this movie is definitely going be a favorite". In this last statement you assume patience is a virtue necessary to watch good cinema. You're wrong. In fact, what you need is inteligence of your own (not you, i'm not insulting you, I know this sentence is ambiguous) and a movie that's inteligent, and when you have those two elements put together no movie seems boring, because you are engaged in a moment of art and reflection in which you can participate when watching. And this movie IS in fact SIMPLE-MIND, because it illustrates the obvious, loses itself in empty clichés and meaningless dialogues, and it's not one of my personal favorites.

Having said all of this, I wish you all the best, and keep watching anime and submiting your reviews. I hope I have not been too harsh. Ja mata! <.<

Amazing Texhnolyze review. I love how you explained all the symbolism there. I myself found the anime amazing, among my top ten favorites.
