My Favorite Anime?
First of all, favorites doesn't necessarily mean best.
5. Nagi no Asukara
Its a huge love polygon! The premise was interesting enough and its setting was quite intriguing so I ventured out into the seas of Shioshishio and acquainted myself with the characters. The story was simple enough, it was just a difference in ideologies at its core. And the soundtrack, oh I love the soundtrack. The OP's/ED's are in my playlist long before I decided to watch this. You'll feel like you're in the sea when you hear it. The exciting plot twist and childish romance will make this truly satisfying at the end. Although there are small flaws and it left some ends open for interpretation, it still left a hole in my heart and it made me sink into the depth of my thoughts.
"Everyone is someone precious to someone! Please don't forcefully rip apart those who love each other!" - Mukaido Manaka
4. Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R1/R2
As I am very addicted in strategic and tactical games, this anime made a huge impact in me. I was constantly observant, I want to know what's happening, I want to be a part of the action too. Being my first anime, I am constantly comparing action anime to this one. A very complicated plot, huge cliffhangers every 23 minutes, and plot twists everywhere has made this a classic. Interactions between characters and their clash of ideologies has made it a legend. Defining justice and heroism, justifying cruelty and war through the effect (Machiavelli anyone?), having twists and turns at any point, and an ending fitting for a masterpiece, this anime is ought to be watched by a true anime fan.
"The world cannot be changed by pretty words alone." - Lelouch vi Britannia
3. Golden Time
The first romance anime I've watched, and the first anime that made me truly happy just because i watched it. People generally hate the fact that the ending feels rushed, I feel like I'm the one who liked it. To be fair though, the anime itself is not about couples being formed with a kiss at the end, it is about a couple enduring through various obstacles in their relationship. The music is quite nice, and the visuals are on point, and the story is simple enough to understand. Kaga Kouko is the best girl to have as a girlfriend. Enough said.
"I may be unreliable, and I may not be able to do anything, but I’m here. I’ll always be with you. I’ll be always by your side." - Tada Banri
2. Shirobako
A recently finished airing show that was met with great success, selling a lot of DVD's and Blu-ray discs. I have yet to see anyone who watched and stayed with this anime be disappointed. I'll be honest, I dropped it early (episode 2), and forgot about it until the 23rd episode came out. It just happened that I had no class the next day, and I forced myself to watch everything starting from the top. By the end of the season, I have an idea who was who (trust me its hard to remember the extremely large cast). This was the first anime to made me cry because of excessive happiness, and after finishing it, you will appreciate every small step that the Japanese studios do just to make the shows we adore.
"It might just be a tiny candle flame, but as we pass that tiny flame on and on, it becomes a flame will never die out, that will continue to shine all over the world!" - Miyamori Aoi
1. Hanasaku Iroha
This anime is very memorable to me. Did you ever get the feeling when you watch that, "I'm going to like this." Maybe it is because I was feeling a bit under the weather when I was watching it. The recurring themes are easy to relate to, the characters are easy to empathize with, and you'll feel very light when you watch it. A simple yet elegant animation, a deep story but not over-arching, and a soundtrack that sets the perfect mood, I say that this is the best slice of life show that I've seen.
"Yes, it really was a fairy tale. A pretty girl reached out her hand to me and ... ... told me to die!" - Matsumae Ohana
I don't like slice of life shows but its futile resistance because a huge chunk of what I watch are slice of life. So there it is, maybe you can tell what kind of guy I am, based on what shows I like.
