I'm Jokersennin (actually not, but that's my username on this site)
If you're reading this to understand why I rated a manga or anime, let's start with the fact that I probably gave it a rating of around 7 or 8, and you'll see that a majority of my ratings are similar.
Well, that's not because I'm cowardly, lukewarm, or lacking judgment. On the contrary, fortunately, I don't have any mental issues that make me need to overanalyze a product by conducting an extensive study of everything that doesn't fit my biased concept of "well-written." However, I do feel the need to fill you with "reasons," many of them over-intellectualized, to win the approval of an internet stranger whom I'll never see, or point at with my fiery finger to say, "This is crap," and feel empowered to destroy the work of a studio or author based on personal preconceptions rooted in the path of life, but written in a biting, cruel, and entertaining way to evoke the reader's thirst for blood or their own disgust for the work, so that they join in the perversion in the form of likes or stars.
I neither have any emotional or affectionate issues stemming from a difficult or sad childhood, resulting from physical and mental abuse, that make me vent my hatred towards writers and animators who, in many cases, are doing their best to gain the sympathy or likes of people whom I'll never see, just to feel that at the end of the day think: "I am unique and different or special because I write with hatred".
And yes, I know that many critics justify themselves by saying that they have nothing personal against you for hating the work you love, and you should believe them. They have nothing personal against you; they have a personal problem with themselves for not realizing that they now hate what they once loved because the world and entertainment change and will never be the same as it once was, and they lack the emotional maturity to understand that they don't actually hate the manga and anime industry for what it has become, but rather they hate what they have become and blame the manga and anime industry for their lack of introspection because it's easier to overanalyze a work until you reduce it to trash than to pause and analyze yourself.
That said...
Here's how I rate works:
10 - Masterpiece: I believe everyone should read/watch it.
9 - Excellent: It still has details that bother me, but at the end of the day it's extraordinary.
8 - Very good work: it has its flaws but is quite satisfying.
7 - Good: It's a good work, but I see obvious and painful flaws, but you should watch/read it.
6 - Above average: It's not bad, but it has too many flaws in my perception.
5 - Mediocre: It has redeemable elements, but the overall result is mediocre.
4 - Problematic: It's a work with more flaws than successes.
3 - Bad: I genuinely consider it a bad work.
2 - Terrible: This work has very few or no redeemable elements.
1 - Insulting: It's an insult to the viewer and their time.
0 - NO WORK DESERVES 0... 0 is an imaginary number, so it's only there as a tribute to the Mayans.
Now, if you're wondering why I didn't like one of my non-recommendation reviews, first of all, I deeply apologize. Can you give me a guideline or point that I missed, and I will possibly read it again to see if I evaluated the product at a bad moment or if it's really a case of me not connecting with that piece of work.
Finally, if I drop a work, I don't add it on the list. I prefer to evoke the maxim: "If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all" rather than inflating my numbers on an internet site.
