YO! I'm an honest and young at heart Otaku. While I'm not exactly "obsessive" as per the definition of an Otaku, I'm definitely a video game enthusiast first and foremost. The way game companies are dishing out video games these days, I don't think I'll ever grow out of them. Got all the consoles, but I still prefer the PC as my preferred gaming platform (been playing FFXIV and L4D2 as of late).
Being cooped up at home playing games and watching anime for hours on end is not always a good thing. I need to unplug, unwind, and get out every so often. I am an avid movie goer, a complete sushi nut, and baseball game fan (GO GIANTS!). I enjoy the occasional Texas Hold 'em night as well. While I'm not the best card shark in the world of poker, I at least know how to play. I'll go out drinking every once in a while. I'm pretty much all around when going out as long as everyone's in the mood to have some fun. And Yes, I've gone to many anime conventions and while I do enjoy seeing and taking pictures with people in their many creative and colorful costumes, I don't think I could see myself doing any cosplay...ever.
I'm into any genre of anime as long as the plots are good and interesting to follow and I prefer watching anime in original Japanese dialogue with English subtitles. English dubs? That's sort of a toss up for me. It's not that I don't appreciate what North American anime companies and voice actors are doing to localize anime and get it out into the mainstream here in the states, but there are times when English dubs just sound so out of place. Sometimes it can be tolerable depending on the caliber of the anime I'm watching. While at other times, it might as well be nails scratching down a chalkboard. Hollywood celebrities always do the best work of course, but for animes that can't afford such talent, again, it can be a toss up.
I prefer listening to Japanese dialogue as I feel Japanese voice actors are way more experienced in conveying their emotion into anime characters. I've also grown a great interest in Japanese language and culture all throughout the time I've been watching anime. Watching anime with English subtitles also helps me learn a few Japanese phrases or words here and there as well.
Who I'd like to meet:
I like meeting people with common interests (anime in this instance, of course). You've got to be down to earth and have as much fun as I would at a moments notice (BE SPONTANEOUS!) People who are honest with themselves as much as they are to others. You definitely have to be talkative too (don't be a deer in headlights @.@). I listen to what people have to say should they feel the need to speak their mind. Doesn't hurt to ask questions either. Questions answered become something learned and you can never stop learning.
Just be yourself ("Don't try to be a great man; just be a man...or woman" ;D). Always a plus to meet new people and make even more friends, right? Oh yeah, having a sense of humor is a must too. They say laughter is the best medicine and that it can make all the more difference at any given moment in your life. Keep in touch often, otherwise I may forget who you are, and you wouldn't want that now, would you? D:

Thanks for adding me. :)
The world needs to be more honest with themselves. I've gotten into arguments with a couple of MAL peeps before for my "bluntness" (their word) and my choice of words. I tend to say exactly what I mean, but some people tend to misinterpret. :(
I concur that we can never stop learning. There's always something new to discover, something different to experience. There can be 4 of me running around and I still won't be able to do everything I want to do in life. :P
Oh and welcome to MAL! :)
