Ousama Ranking is a unique story, and although a little bit convoluted at times, does maintain a fairly interesting plot. There's a lot of moving parts to the story which depending on how complicated you like things, could be pretty hit or miss. A lot of the major plot elements tie into past events that you learn about as the series progresses. I found this fairly curious and did enjoy it. Although the pacing of the series accelerates quite a lot mid-way through. I think they could have smoothed / fleshed some things out a bit more but overall it's pretty good. If you enjoy ... medieval fantasy settings then you should definitely check it out. It's gorgeous and a cute lil underdog story.

I have one major gripe with this series and it's the overuse of healing magic. Eventually I was expecting the characters to get healed after being injured. Which completely removed any sort of drama that was intended to be experienced. What could have been a gripping scene became more of the same. Healing magic is too convenient in my opinion and in this case, ruined what could have been something more. There are no stakes if everything can just be magically okay in a few seconds. With the exception of the dream healing sequence, that scene was very well done and the healing done had context to the plot.

Space Dandy is a strange anime, having stories be entirely contained within episodes. With some events playing a role in future episodes while others seeming happen in an entire separate universe. It's this creativity that makes Space Dandy stand out for me. They really didn't limit themselves on what could be done in an episode for the sake of keeping reality consistent. This kind of chaos hardly exists in storytelling and it may be a turn off to some. Personally I very much enjoy that element.

Even so, there is a small amount of character growth for Dandy. At first Dandy is portrayed as a comedic ... take on bit of a heartless bad boy. Though as the series progresses that perception changed to show Dandy really does have heart.


Comedy is a very subjective thing. For the most part, this show doesn't really make me laugh out lout but I'll crack a smile.

The main 3 characters are probably the biggest selling point. QT is simply a cutie. Dandy is just dandy. While cat eats fish flakes. They are a lovable bunch and watching them adventure through space is good a time.

I would recommend this show to anyone who just wants to have a little fun because for the most part it's just a fun show. Some episodes are a bit slow, but are generally more artistic and visually compelling to compensate.

This has some high levels of uncanny valley to it. The art style really makes the characters feel out of place in the world. It's quite uncomfortable but I think that's what makes it so fitting. The art overall has got a creepy but pretty feel to it; as it paints the uncanny atmosphere perfectly.

The world is visually interesting. While you never get to learn too much about it story wise, visually, it's very stimulating.

This is a really creepy horror. Mixing flesh and machine is simply repulsive but creative.

Characters are nothing to write home about but they are robots so they are fairly ... generic. This adds to the uncanny feeling the show has, as not much feels human. Even later in the show when the characters transform, they still don't act like humans other than having some human desires.

The ending is kind of cliché but pretty good. I don't want to include any spoilers so I'm going to leave it at that. The show takes its jabs at humanity but sometimes the truth hurts.

I would recommend this if you want to watch something creepy that will make you feel uncomfortable. It does not have a gripping story but it's very atmospheric.
