You're better off reading Kaiji or watching Squid Games. Or maybe watching One Outs. I'd put this in the same category as Liar Game -- it's pretty tacky and the story telling is clunky; twists are pretty obvious, too. This story fails the "show, don't tell" maxim for storytelling -- a lot of character building comes from characters saying "omg he's a devil!" or "wow he is soooo evil!" instead of letting the story speak for itself. A lot of the "heheh im so evulz lololol" stuff is pretty cringe and it gets old pretty fast. There are much better alternatives in this genre to

The first half of this show was awesome -- hardcore murderers, creative mysterious, likeable characters, and light humor the take the edge off, too. Through and through, the art and music of this show were amazing, but unfortunately, out of nowhere, it went from being a nice gruesome mystery show, chock full of tasteful references to classic detective tropes, to an overly pretentious supernatural romance schlick that was trying way too hard... to be the next Steins;Gate? Death Note? who knows? and getting nothing accomplished.
If you want to watch the first 4 eps, go ahead, but stop there. The flat characters, non-mysteries, and pretentious ... |
