As an anime only watcher I'm sad to say that this was quite a ruined anime in my own opinion. Yes there is a lot of hate for this and I feel like some of it was unjustified, but again there was a lot that seemed disappointing while watching this season.

Story: 3
Story was quite bland and felt rather too fast or too slow. At least we got to see chapter 125 in the anime ;).

Art: 7
Still pretty well done. I wish it was more action packed as in less stiff movement and somewhat like a MHA feel of fights.

Sound: 8
Well they reused a ... lot of what was used previously BUT that doesn't take away the fact that the OP by far carried the soundtrack :p. Katharsis is a very nice song and well done by TK.

Character: 6
WTFFFFFFF. All of a sudden people start coming back and its a bit of a mess. Nice but could've been executed better.

Enjoyment: 4
It was good before but later on I felt like I was dragging myself along the story. I just wanted to finish it to finish it basically.

Thoughts and Review:
Poorly executed anime but it happens. Could've been a really good season but I guess the studio just wanted it done

It's been 3 years or something since this came out so time to give it a nice good review to today's standards.

Story: 7
Honestly the story wasn't the best and felt quite repetitive, however the story plot is the kind that is quickly thought up of and executed pretty decently. I will say that the story line should've been thought over a lot more though since this had a lot of potential to be like a kill la kill type anime.

Art: 6
The art is quite visually pleasing despite being an older anime. The animations weren't the best however as an example: Benio talks without her ... mouth opening like 2 times I believe. Small mistakes that should've been gone over before airing. Other than that, the art was pretty decently made but I still think it could've been better if more time and effort were put into it.

Sound: 6
The soundtracks were typical but fit in. I wish that they had added more variety in the background songs however because sometimes it felt like the music didn't fit in. Again like the art, it's decent but could've been a lot better

Character: 8
Now I honestly would've put a 6 if I were harsher, but thinking about the characters they were all quite unique. The 12 guardians were unique and each very different. Of course because of so many characters you would think it could be hectic, but to be very honest it wasn't. The only downside of having so many characters is introducing them made them feel repetitive. The mc's stories were different and felt like Yin and Yang (tiny little spoiler joke). I didn't quite like the mc Roku but he's a unique character all in all.

Enjoyment: 8
I was quite hooked on this anime despite its flaws and ups/downs. The story wasn't that well thought out but it was enough to get your interest. I wanted to finish this anime ever since I started it.

Overall: 8
Now I may get some smack for giving this high of a rating, but I admit. This anime was quite bad but also good at the same time. If this had a better team making this anime I'm sure this would be a lot better of an anime, however the way that the mc's and side characters always had a role and eventually winning in the end felt like a very well made ending. I must say though, Rip Mr. Lion.

I haven't read the manga, but I hear that it's completely different and in fact I kinda preferred it this way because the way the episodes flowed felt like the changes should've been made.

This anime honestly is a love or hate. I personally loved this due to the characters and the mysterious story. The "puberty syndrome" is what this anime is mostly based off of. Most people were giving hate on this anime, but I'm here to say that this deserves a watch. It may seem like an ecchi/harem type anime from clips you see, but this is definitely not the case. The outro song as well is one of my favorites too because they change the singer with the main character it's focused on. Listen to the outro song as you watch the series and you'll notice ... it changes ;).

The ending was suited but honestly could've been better. I hope that the movie and the second season come soon because I'm very hyped for them

My reason for my review score is that the intense showdowns in the matches were honestly very well done. Slowdowns were a bit overused but that adds to the dramatic effect. It gives me the Haikyuu vibes honestly. Of course there are a lot of "ecchi" scenes but that comes with a show based off of beach volleyball. There are a lot of things I wish could've been changed of course but a very well made sports anime and highly recommend it.

~sidenote~
There were a lot of people commenting about the beginners luck of Harukana, but keep in mind that she was a transfer who ... was pretty athletic as well as she was given tons of training before the tournament. Realistically of course she shouldn't be pwning everyone but that's anime for ya! ;)
