Started out watching anime as a kid with stuff like the Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh dubs. Moved on to Naruto, dub then sub. Took a break for a while until a friend suggested Bleach (a decision we both now regret). Watched that and then decided to watch other stuff. Guys, turns out those long running shows aren't that great, lack overall structural narrative, and never do any more than the most minimal character development. Shit pacing as well. So then I realized that other stuff is pretty damn good, and decided to watch more. Then a lot more. Now I've seen 100+ shows and have spent too much time thinking and reading about them.

I consider myself an informed viewer, but am in no way any sort of cultural expert, just a dude with opinions that he's proud of (to varying degrees).
