Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san is one of the best slice of life, ecchi, romantic comedies available in anime right now.
Story: The story is similar to many other ecchi romantic comedies with it's comedy skits and school setting. It starts off with Nagatoro teasing Hachiouji so much it seems like bullying but once you get through the initial episode, it becomes obvious that she likes him. There isn't much to the story yet, with it being one comedy skit after another with no overarching plot. The show did add a mini arc to develop the relationship between Nagatoro and Hachiouji at the end of season 1 and it
...
seems that the overarching plot throughout the series will be their relationship. I hope it will add more depth in future seasons to develop the characters.
Art: The art and animation are well done for an ecchi rom com. The anime showcases the art of the manga exceptionally well.
Sound: The openings and endings are fun and fit the tone of the series. The voice of Nagatoro is done extremely well but may be slightly annoying for some because she plays her role so well. I look forward to how she'll sound in the English dub. The OST wasn't very noticeable.
Characters: Nagatoro is a mischievous girl who continuously teases Hachiouji non-stop. She gets littles bits of development while being very funny. I like how she obviously admires him and wants to build his confidence but she also can't help herself with the teasing. Hachiouji is an unconfident protagonist that lets Nagatoro get away with whatever she wants, he is annoyed by her but likes the attention. The only other characters are Nagatoro's friends, who will hopefully get more development. I look forward to seeing Nagatoro's and Hachiouji's relationship develop in future seasons.
Enjoyment: If you can have a good time watching a cute girl tease someone who is extremely introverted and shy, then this could be the series for you. I enjoyed most of the comedy with it only missing the mark a couple times. I personally have this series as one of the funniest anime rom com's I've ever seen and look forward to future seasons.
Overall: This is one of the funniest anime rom com's I've seen. The series is great for what it is but it would be nice if it tried to be more than a comedy. I have high hopes for the second season to develop the characters and add more romance.

I believe Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Diamond is Unbreakable is the best Jojo part available in anime at the moment.
Story: The story takes place in the Japanese town of Morioh and has an overarching murder mystery with people disappearing from the town. I really liked the slower pacing with a lot of the episodes mainly introducing the different people of the city and their powers. I also believe this has the best villain in any Jojo part so far.
Art: David Productions does a great job on the art and animation. They've faithfully recreated all the Jojo parts with dedication to the source material.
Sound: The openings and
...
endings are done very well. The OST is fine and all the voices in Japanese and English fit the series quite well.
Character: Most of the main characters are generic shounen archetypes that are given different abilities. Many of the minor characters in the town receive interesting powers and aren't considered good or evil but have their own reasons for using their new found powers. The villain was very interesting in the way that he was a regular person that was just trying to live a normal life but happened to have an amazing power and a weird fetish. The protagonist is a bit overpowered at times and may be one of the weaker ones in all of Jojo but it made up for it with the some interesting side characters and many creative battles.
Enjoyment: This was one of the most enjoyable Jojo arcs for me. It starts off slow but gets more interesting as it goes. I really liked how it built a better overarching plot than any of the other Jojo's released so far.
Overall: It's still the same old Jojo but with some new elements that makes it more interesting. If you're fan of the other parts and haven't seen this one yet than there's no reason not to watch.

Based off a light novel, Fate Zero is a prequel to the visual novel Fate Stay Night. I believe this is where people new to the Fate series should start because of the extremely high quality. This review is for both seasons.
Story: This is the start of a battle royale between legendary historical figures who are summoned by mages to win a wish granting holy grail. Fate Zero has epic battles with long winded speeches. The anime is a lot similar to other battle anime but it has more mature themes and an adult cast of characters. There is heavy doses of dialogue throughout and
...
most of the first season is build-up for the 2nd. This might throw some people off but I believe the build up is worth the wait.
Art: Ufotable takes over the Fate series from working on Kara No Kyoukai and adds incredible visuals and animation. Sometimes the frames can be stilted and some of the backgrounds aren't very noteworthy but it doesn't detract from everything else.
Sound: The opening and ending credit songs are aesthetically pleasing. The voice actors do a great job in English and Japanese. The OST serves it's purpose excellently to add to the epic battles.
Characters: There are seven mages and servants that get showcased but none more than Kiritsugu Emiya. He is a unique protagonist in the way that he's an adult and that he'll do whatever it takes to win even if it's unethical and justify it as being better for the greater good. His servant Saber/Arturia is showcased as being one of the most noble characters in the story and it's very interesting to see her banter with the rest of the cast. All the master and servant relationships get some time to shine through their quirks and defining personalities. All of the mages and servants paired together mostly have contradictory personalities which adds to create some entertaining character interactions. I personally liked the transformation of one of the masters, Kirei. He doesn't really know what he wants to do at first and mainly follows orders but through meeting and befriending Archer/Gilgamesh, he's able to find a purpose of his own. Another great master servant relationship is Waver and Rider/Iskander. The contrast in their personalities is quite comedic at times and very enjoyable.
Enjoyment: I loved the character interactions and fantastic action scenes. The dialogue and battles are some of the most epic in all of anime. The way it builds off everything in the beginning to create a spectacular second half of the season is very impressive.
Overall: This is one of the best battle anime out there. I can't recommend it enough. If you're willing to be patient, you'll be rewarded with a superb series and a great starter to getting into the massive Fate franchise. I suggest watching Fate Stay Night Heaven's Feel after this but many others would say to watch Unlimited Blade Works.

Death Note is the anime that made me look at the entire medium differently. I've been hooked on anime ever since.
Story: High school student Light Yagami finds a notebook that states whoever's name is written in it will die. With the power of this notebook, he comes up with a scheme to try and change humanity forever. The story turns into a cat and mouse chase between him and the world's best detective named L. The way it narrows down the story so quickly with it's fast pacing to become a battle of wits between the main characters is very compelling. The weakest thing about
...
the story is the way each arc continues to get worse as the show goes on. The last arc is especially why I can't give this show a perfect rating. I do give them credit though because it's difficult to make a story like this and continue it beyond it's limits like they did.
Art: The art and animation are high quality. There are almost no action scenes and everything is talking and inner monologues but when it does have some action to animate, it does it well.
Sound: The openings and endings are done very well and fit the tone of the series. The OST is extremely hype and adds to the tension in the best moments. The Japanese voices are great and the English dub is done particularly well.
Character: Light Yagami is one of the best anti hero's in all of anime. He comes up with well designed schemes to get what he wants and follows through. His opponent, L is fairly well developed and relies on a couple weird quirks to make him more interesting but he comes up with schemes and has interesting inner monologues to match Light. All of the side characters are there for the development of the story. There are a couple comedic relief characters that add some comedy to the show even though they can be annoying at times.
Enjoyment: I couldn't stop watching it until I completed all the episodes. I loved the first 26 episodes and wish it would've ended there with a couple episodes added for an epilogue.
Overall: It's the most popular anime on MAL for good reason. This is one of the best shows in the entire medium and everyone should give it a chance.

Samura X Trust and Betrayal is the greatest samurai anime ever made. It's a prequel to Rurouni Kenshin. It's not necessary to watch Rurouni Kenshin before or after you watch Samurai X.
Story: The story is about Himura Kenshin's past. It shows how he was raised and takes you through his early life becoming a samurai. The story takes place during the Tokugawa regime in Japan. It is historical and realistic throughout but it is not based off a true story. It takes itself very seriously and has no comedy. It also has explicit content with excessive gore. The way it blends action, romance and
...
drama seamlessly into a 4 episode OVA is extremely impressive.
Art: The art and animation are top notch. The fact that it's an OVA allowed them to put more resources into making it. It came out in 1999, so it does show it's age at times but it looks incredible compared to other anime in that time period. It keeps it's art and animation so realistic that it even mixes in real life photos for the backgrounds.
Sound: The OST fits the mood of the series perfectly. The sound effects are done extremely well to make everything fit the time period as accurately as possible. The only weakness for me was the English dub. I recommend watching it in Japanese.
Character: All of the characters are extremely serious and cold. Watching Kenshin grow up and transform into the person he becomes at the end was very engaging. His romantic interest Tomoe also has a well fleshed out story that connects with Kenshin's in a dramatic way. The other characters play their roles well and fit in the story nicely.
Enjoyment: It blends action, romance and drama with it's historical setting and interesting characters amazingly well. There isn't a samurai anime out there that can match what it does. The only thing that lets it down, is that it's a prequel to a series that's not as good.
Overall: It's the greatest samurai anime ever made. You don't have to watch the original show and it's only four episodes long. There's no reason not to check it out.

Based off the Fate visual novel, Fate Stay Night: Heaven's Feel is the third route of the VN focusing on Sakura Matou. The route is adapted through three movies. This review is for all three movies. It is highly recommended from other Fate fans to read the visual novel before watching. I did not do this. I watched Fate Zero before Heaven's Feel and still enjoyed both immensely. I was extremely disappointed going back and watching the original Fate Stay Night anime and UBW. I did not enjoy either entry and cannot recommend either one to anyone.
Story: Continuing the Fate Stay Night story of
...
a battle royale between legendary historical figures to win a wish granting holy grail. Fate Stay Night Heaven's Feel adds in more romantic elements mixed with horror aspects and some of the most amazing action scenes in all of anime. The story is not focused on action in the beginning. It is character driven with the characters interactions being more important than the battle royale plot. They weave together seamlessly through all three films. The third film has more plot driven elements than the first two with less focus on romance and more on the action. The first two films are about the character moments between Shirou and Sakura. The third film is about ending the battle royale action and seeing the fates of all the characters.
Art: Ufotable takes over the Fate series again with incredible visuals and animation. The backgrounds are some of the best I've seen. The action scenes are some of the most well animated in the entire medium of anime. Enough said, the art and animation are top notch.
Sound: The OST is incredible along with the ending credit songs. The voice actors do a great job as well. All of it fits the tone of the movies and works incredibly well together.
Characters: Sakura Matou is the star of the series, she is extremely interesting and broken yet at the same time she's the most endearing of the cast. This series has the best version of Shirou in all of Fate. He isn't a well liked protagonist in the other iterations, but in this one, his flaws aren't as noticeable. The romance between them is done very well and the decisions they have to make are very interesting with them creating some major consequences. The other characters get more prominent roles in the 3rd film. Rin, Ilya and Kirei get more time to shine. Many of the holes in the other Fate series are resolved as well, but with the fast pacing, many scenes in the visual novel are skipped.
Enjoyment: I enjoyed this more than Fate Zero and other work Ufotable has done. The music, art, story and characters were all done extremely well. I cant recommend this enough. Sometimes it can be too explicit and it can be too much but it adds to the mature tone of the movies.
Overall: I believe this to be the greatest piece of art that Ufotable and Fate have provided so far. I look forward to the work Ufotable does in the future. The Fate series is one of the best looking, most interesting series in all of anime. With this said, I can only recommend Fate Zero and Fate Stay Night Heaven's Feel as the must watch anime of the series.

This review is for Gantz and Gantz 2nd Stage. I talk about the manga as well since it is the superior version of the story.
Story: Gantz is a sci-fi story about people dying and being transported to a room with a black ball. I won't say what happens next but part of the appeal is seeing where the story will go. It isn't predictable and at times it presents interesting situations for its characters. All of the characters are expendable throughout, which adds to the tension. The pacing of the show can be terribly slow at times and watching these normal people deal with what
...
is happening can be quite unpleasant. There are many explicit scenes within the story with gore and sex.
Art: The art isn't anything special. The fight scenes are animated well enough but they have horrible CGI thrown in. The backgrounds are very flat but the designs of the human characters are done well enough and the monsters can be interesting. The manga uses computer generated backgrounds and overall it looks much better.
Sound: The OST does a good job of adding to the tense moments. The openings are songs to get you ready for the show and the ending credits are melancholic. The voice actors do a good job for both the english and japanese voices.
Character: The characters are mostly unlikable and dumb. Most people are put off by this but it's like this on purpose to try and provide realism. It's trying to show how your every day person is not ready for the things they have to go through in the story. Watching the characters slowly figure out what's happening and adjust to crazy circumstances is a big part of it's appeal. I particularly enjoyed the journey of the main character Kei Kurono, his transformation throughout the series is done very well in the anime and the manga.
Enjoyment: I enjoyed the show but there are a couple things that bothered me. The first thing is that the anime does not have a true ending and you will have to switch over to the manga. Two, the 3rd arc is anime original and isn't in the manga. It's a decent arc by itself but they would've been better off ending at the 2nd arc and saving the manga source material for a potential sequel. The enjoyment of the show comes from trying to figure out what will happen next and watching the different characters deal with these outrageous situations.
Overall: After all this, I really recommend you to check out the manga instead of the anime. The slow pacing is not a problem and it has some of the best sci-fi action scenes in the medium. It also has an ending and tries to explain much of the mystery surrounding the plot. The anime is a decent gateway into the world but the manga is where it truly shines.

Story: In Devilman Crybaby, Akira Fudou is granted the power of a Devilman and has to mix his newly established insatiable cravings with his empathetic persona. I really enjoyed the story's fast pacing. It's very simple but works well in 10 episodes. It's not trying to say anything meaningful but it is trying to be as epic as possible.
Art: The design is reminisce of Go Nagai Devilman designs from the past but with a more modern look. The graphic content does feel overdone at times but overall it increases the show's shock value, whether that's good or bad is up to the viewer. Some of
...
the fights can be confusing to follow because of the art and at times the animations does look stiff.
Sound: A great OST with good performances by the English and Japanese voice actors. The OP is an electronic/techno beat that gets you pumped for the show.
Character: All of the characters are generic and paper thin, but with the story ending in 10 episodes, there wasn't much time for development. In the time given, the main characters were properly fleshed out and served their purpose.
Enjoyment: This is where the anime truly shines. The high speed pacing with the drama raising its stakes every episode to an epic end is just what I'm looking for. I understand all the criticism the show receives. I believe that people may not give the show a chance because of the other reviews but I highly recommend everyone to give this one a shot if you can handle the explicit content.
Overall: I think this show doesn't get enough credit for being extremely entertaining. Sometimes you need to turn your brain off and just enjoy the spectacle. At least check out the first episode.
