name’s yji. tired college student barely clinging to life, fueled by tea, bad decisions, and the sheer refusal to let a mid manga win.
seldom anime watcher but full-time manga reader because at least i can suffer at my own pace. right now, i'm trying to document
every manga i've read, which is about as fun as trying to remember what you had for lunch last tuesday. updates are sporadic &
disorganized. i try to write reviews, but if a series is too popular or if my brain refuses to form coherent thoughts, i just won’t.
expect passionate essays about fictional men, unwarranted slander towards fan-favorite series, and the occasional moment of deep
philosophical reflection on why i continue to suffer for a medium that hates me back. if you see me giving a 10, just know it was
deserving of it (or i was emotionally compromised at the time). my favorites change constantly, so don’t be surprised if something
disappears overnight. it’s not you, it’s me. or the fact that i made a bad decision at 2 a.m. and now i have to pretend it never happened.
welcome to my list. enjoy the chaos. or don’t. i’ll still be here, adding another manga i probably won’t remember reading next week.
i really enjoyed Banana Bread No Pudding , so i will reccomend that one !! i think i would also reccomend Presents , if you like horror , though i have to warn that it ends somewhat abruptly
I'm so glad you're excited to read it! I totally get that feeling it’s rare to find a series that really hits you emotionally, so I hope this one delivers for you. :)
Yeah, adaptations tend to miss those subtle emotional nuances that make the source material special. Bloom Into You was beautifully animated, but I agree it lacked that extra emotional depth that could have made it a 10/10. Super hyped for The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn't a Guy at All! too! I was hooked the moment it came out the four-page chapters and weekly releases felt like a little treat every time. If you ever decide to continue reading the manga, trust me, you won’t regret it. The latest chapters have been making my heart flutter so much! I was actually in a discussion on another site about whether the anime will keep the green color scheme. I think there are two possible approaches: either the anime will closely resemble the manga’s style, or they’ll integrate the color green in a significant way, like using different shades for background shifts during emotional moments.
No problem, glad to help! :) Oh, and about Arioto my bad for the confusion! That’s just a shorter way of referring to the series. The full English title is A Yuri Story About a Girl Who Insists "It's Impossible for Two Girls to Get Together" Completely Falling Within 100 Days. I usually read LNs as ebooks too, but I really wish there was a "MangaDex for LNs." Personally, I just search for the title online along with "read online free," and a few sites usually pop up. :) Some fan translation groups also post PDFs and EPUBs on their sites. If you’re looking for a good place for yuri LNs, Dynasty Reader is a great site it has almost every yuri work you can think of, and the community there is amazing!
Totally agree WLW stories about adults bring such a different perspective to romance, and it’s so refreshing. I also read I Married My Best Friend to Shut My Parents Up and had the same "meh" reaction, so I totally get you. I'd love to check out your rant, lol I always enjoy seeing proper responses to a series rather than just one-word comments, which happens way too often in comment sections.
Omg, now I need to know what that 90s WLW movie/series was! Also, I finally found someone who ships Applejack/Rarity! Most people tend to pair Applejack with Rainbow Dash, but I actually ship Rainbow Dash with Fluttershy. I totally get what you're looking for, one character who's super feminine and glamorous, while the other is more casual and laid-back. A good manga that might fit that dynamic is A Story About Buying a Classmate Once a Week ~ 5,000 Yen for an Excuse to Spend Time Together. One girl is super popular and pretty, while the other is plain and doesn’t care much about what others think of her. Another option is A Yuri Manga That Starts With Getting Rejected in a Dream, and Ayaka is in Love with Hiroko! would be a perfect example too, just look at the cover of Volume 1! But honestly, Collectors by Nishi Uko is probably the best match. One of the leads is a bookworm who dresses simply (jeans and a t-shirt), while her girlfriend is a shopaholic and obsessed with fashion. I got a little too excited there, haha. :D
I personally dropped and picked up NTR Trap so many times that I forgot how it even started and ended. As for Citrus, I actually enjoyed it at first, but after hearing others’ critiques and analyzing it more, I realized... yeah, this isn’t exactly a healthy relationship (not the lesbian aspect, but the way they become a couple).
As for the terminology debate, there’s technically no major difference between "Yuri" and "GL" since "Yuri" (百合) literally translates to "lily" in Japanese, it just means "girls’ love." In the Western fandom, "GL" is more commonly used for manhwa and manhua, since "Yuri" is often associated with wholesome or romantic works, while "GL" has become a broader (and sometimes more sexualized) term. Some people think "GL" is vague enough to include NSFW content like On a Leash, whereas "Yuri" is typically seen as more cute and romantic. Shoujo-ai, on the other hand, is mainly used to describe yuri with light subtext where the girls might confess or hold hands but don’t go much further. though, "Shoujo-ai" and it can even have different connotations.
MLM stories definitely struggle with quality sometimes there’s a lot of "fanservice-y" content that prioritizes appeal over actual storytelling. I feel the same way about WLW content written by men some of it is surprisingly decent, but you can always tell when it’s written from an outsider’s perspective. I honestly feel bad for gay men who read BL hoping to understand themselves better, only to be bombarded with over-the-top, fetishized romance. I actually got into yuri to understand my own attraction better, and a lot of stories did help me. But somewhere along the way, I fell into the yuri rabbit hole and now I can’t (and don’t want to) get out, lol. :) I’ve seen a lot of gay men in BL comment sections saying, "I’m a gay man, and I find this unrealistic/disgusting," which is kinda sad.
There are definitely differences between BL written by men and women. In general, men tend to draw hairier, more muscular male leads, while women make them more handsome and "pretty." The biggest difference, though, is in how they write relationships, BL written by women often leans into toxic and manipulative dynamics (Jinx is a prime example of that, and yeah... not for me).
No problem for the recs! Haha, don’t stress about making an interest stack for these recommendations, I already have a few yuri stacks on my page, so feel free to check them out. ^_^
That said, an unlisted interest stack is a great idea! For your "not quite gay, but totally gay" theme, Claudine and Maria-sama ga Miteru would be great additions. There are so many historical "best friends" stories that fit this vibe, lol. I can’t think of any new one-shots from 2025 off the top of my head, but if I find any, I’ll be sure to let you know!
And yesss, Her Shim-Cheong is gorgeous! I hope you love it as much as I did! :D
HI sorry for the late reply i havent logged into MAL for a while lol . im not sure if you still need a recommendation but if you still do id be happy to try and help , im a little unclear on what you mean though ? you would like a manga thats centered around mythology ? or is any [ clean ] manga fine ? :O
Also (sorry I hit send early lol xD) MRC is so fun! Last year was my first go of it, and I found sooo many new faves from completing the prompts :D it’s a great way to find new titles you’d never encounter otherwise I think!
I hope you enjoy it!!
And aaa that one’s so cute! I love cute/fluffy romances no matter the setting tbh, though office workplace ones are often very cute~ I love Wotakoi especially!
Naw sadly not yet (◞‸◟;)
However, the blank thread for it was set up on the 8th, meaning we should be close! I’d recommend joining the discord—everyone there’s really nice and that’s where we get updates first!
No problem, I love recommending manga! For the 'nun and demon duo' angle, I recommend Chrno Crusade. For the 'sibling dynamic' angle, I recommend Fullmetal Alchemist. And for general vibes, I recommend Shuumatsu no Laughter. Hope you enjoy!
Aww thank you!!! ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡
Omai is errrrm mediocre if I’m honest (ᵕ—ᴗ—) mangadex said it was complete and so I thought it’d be an easy short read to use for MRC 2025 but turns out it’s ongoing haha, for now I’m just reading the chapters as they drop bc they’re short and I might as well! But it’ll be a 5/6 in the end I think!
Jin Takemiya's best works, in my opinion, blend both lighthearted and serious themes really well. *Steps* has a cute style with interesting age gap dynamics, while *Fragments of Love* is heavier and stands out because even the supporting characters have well-developed backstories. I have a feeling you will lento these two if you're interested in something really in-depth.
If you're looking for something with plenty of plot twists and complex, even messed-up characters, yet some surprisingly endearing ones I definitely recommend *How to Draw an Ellipse*. The manhwa has me completely hooked. But I remember you mentioning that manhwas aren’t really your thing.
Hello, thanks for your friend request really appreciate.
How are you ?
About BNHA's 5th season, I would like the season is decent not a lot of action happens, it's rather slice of life but I'm not complaining about that.
I have caught up with the manga for my case; but I suggest you to wait the final season anyways. I mean sometimes by reading the manga you don't understand completely the plot or the action while in anime, everything becomes clear.
Btw how did you start to watch anime and what are your favorite genre?

It's good. Would love to see it adapted to a full manga.

I finished this manga recently and gave it 10/10! https://myanimelist.net/manga/178178/Kazemachi_no_Futari it’s short and beautiful, and severely underrated!
