This is a completely trash anime, but it's also super hilarious. The dub is incredible. I watched it with a friend and we couldn't believe the dub was the official english dub for the anime. Everything about the whole series doesn't make any sense at all, ideas shift and move around so quickly that you can't understand a single aspect of what is actually important to the story and what is just casual moments. Dead Leaves is an important and necessary contribution to modern anime and we benefit from having media like this made. Absurd, hectic, excessive, cartoonish and flashy, Dead Leaves does not have time to slow its pace. The entire focus of the movie is to move onto the next scene and indulge in the action of the current one. The story is actively acknowledged within the anime by the characters as not being that important. Dorohedoro is a well-designed, atmospheric manga with a specific style and sense of humour that carries the series through its story. The author Q Hayashida illustrates her personality so well in the pages of the texts by using juxtapositions of grim and depressing settings and subject matters with deadpan deliveries, sarcasm, goofiness, and silliness.
